If my memory serves me correct, 2009 was the last year there was no line for PtY at Hollingsheads. They were also serving pints of the stuff. I pity people that are trying it for the first time and have to wait hours to do so. There are many IPAs available that I feel are on the same level, but the rarity of PtY will always make it "taste" better than anything out there.

I actually disagree. I totally believe that things taste better when they are hyped, but I had my first PtY before I was on BA. I was a craft beer drinker and had tried many IPAs but it certainly wasn't my favorite style. I went to Churchill's Ren Fest and my buddy ordered PtY. I had never heard of that or the Elder. I thought PtY was one of the best beers of any style I had ever tried.

Edit: I should add that he didn't explain what PtY was before I tried it and formed my opinion. None of us knew what it was at the time.

No no no!! Too far a drive or flight! I'm off to work, enjoy and report back. I doubt I'll ever have Younger unless I stumble on it by accident. I'm A.D.D. and ADHD and have a hard time waiting in line. What line? Look at the flowers!

Reading and chatting with cool BA's helps pass the time.

    Line update. Wrapped around staples.

Are you sipping on one now? Did everyone in line get a ticket? I snoozed my alarm, not sure if I would've made it I time anyway.

Man, I just can't get my head around of all this nonsense. I thought this would begin to taper off but I guess I was wrong. And I have had shit loads of Younger over the years so I know what the beer is all about.

    Cheers,

Younger's not very good this year. Feel bad for anyone waiting in line for it when there are a bunch of other 10%+ IPAs out there that are better and far more accessible.

Grassy as hell, bitter, and super dry finish. 2004 called and wants its bush league beer back.

Anyone know the current status of the line/supply? I heard last year you could show up around 2/3pm and still get some with no line.

Sorry I didn't report back. It was a hectic day for me.

I really enjoyed the Younger here. So fresh, juicy, and dank. Also had a Blind Pig and Great Scott sandwich with Maui Onion Kettle Chips.

The line was insane though. Thankfully I got there when I did. Got a lot of reading done and met some cool peoples. Cheers to next year.

Drove by about 710. Line was past staples and turning the corner again. i was in that spot last year and didnt get in until close to 2. Decided that cuvee de tomme at provisions and 2011 temptation tustin brewing were better options.
Hopefully be able to score some later this week

i got there at 3pm yesterday and was inside having Pliny by 5pm.. not a bad wait at all. met some really cool people. 12oz pour + mug for $15.. really not bad for a tasty beer that only comes around once a year...would i wait in an 8 hour line for it? no.
