I'm planning a trip to the area in February - specifically Orange County and San Diego. My dates are flexible and I thought I'd try to incorporate the younger release into my schedule. Do you guys know any spots in the area which have received pty in the past and if so, when is it usually tapped? Any info would be appreciated
    Thanks

Best bet is to head to Russian River, but I know the Pizza Port locations normally get it, Stone also does, not sure about when they do or if they even announce it.

Here is a couple I remember from last year or before but they come to mind, start to tap a week or two after released at Russian River.

Tustin Brewing Co - Tustin in Oc
    Beachwood BBQ, Long Beach
    Haven- Orange
    38 degrees - Alhambra - LA County
    Verdugo Bar- Eagle Rock

Best bet is not to head there. it's a shitshow beyond any other. There are lots of places that get it in LA, OC, & SD. Usually from the middle to the end of February. If you really want to know where and when said places get it, use the search function. This question comes up all the time, just usually not in November.

This is great advice if you want the OP to waste 7-10 hours in line, possibly through rain since we're getting El NiƱo this year.

I went back to back nights (Tuesday, Wednesday) Waited in line for 45 minutes on Tuesday, and 10 minutes on Wednesday.

Easiest way to do it IMO is to buy the charity tickets to Blind Lady Ale House or Tiger Tiger. Easy Peasy.

^^This, or Encinitas Ale House when they tap theirs. Usually lasts 2 days. It is ticketed so arriving and buying a ticket guarantees you a pour (i.e. trade ticket, receive pint, enjoy pint, walk away but after returning empty pint).

I have done EAH for the past umpteen years and it is how I tend to do PtY releases. Rather chill and not really ppl climbing over each other to get a pour since it isn't a free for all.

O'Briens in San Diego is another option if you decide to go this route.

I believe Hollingshead's in the City of Orange in OC does a PTY event yearly. The year I went it was a 6 hour wait to get inside though.

Ya I'm definitely trying to not have to go to RR as I have family in corona del mar and would prefer to not have to make the drive to Santa Rosa.

Crow Bar in Corona Del Mar usually gets a keg. I think they post on FB day/time they will tap.

Hollingshead taps it on presidents day, but it is a shit show. That is your best week to show up in oc. Most places around here tap it that week. Plan to come in around then and keep an eye on social media. Be prepared to drive to San clemente in the middle of the week. That is going to be your best bet.

I do the TigerTiger event every year and it's the best of all worlds - no wait, no bullshit, and some of the money goes to a good cause. PtY is a great beer, but not good enough to stand in line for, so I'll gladly overpay a bit to walk in, enjoy my glass of it for the year, and go on with my day.

Had many pints at Toronado, last time they had 3 kegs.

    2 scheduled openings

Well, if you're in corona Del mar then check out pizza port. They silently tapped it last year, last a day or two if I'm not mistaken

Hollingshead should be a slight improvement now that they are expanded into the building next door. Bigger capacity. They had Blind pig, pliny, and few sours this year at the same time.

haha.. for me worst bet is Russian River

While there are several places that will get them, it's too early to try to nail down dates right?
