Hi Everyone, I am new here, first post actually. I will be in Indy the second week of June and will have one day to explore the city. I am staying close to Lucas Oil Stadium and will not have a car. Is there any good pubs with local beer or micobrews in the area that you can recommend? Thanks in advance!! kerry
Unfortunately, some the best tap rooms in Indy aren't really in the downtown area, but you still have some options. Depending on which day of the week you're going to be visiting, there are a couple of downtown breweries with tasting rooms. Sun King would probably be a 20-30 minute walk from Lucas Oil. Flat 12 Bierwerks would be a short 5 minute cab ride. In my experience, your best bet for a good selection of local and regional craft beers in a more taproom/restaurant setting would be Ball & Biscuit or Black Market (both on Massachusetts Ave), Tomlinson Tap Room (second floor of the City Market on Market St), and Scotty's Brewpub (on Pennsylvania near Banker's Life Fieldhouse). I'm sure others will have additional suggestions.
Macniven's on Mass Ave also always has a nice selection. Usually something good on at Bazbeaux, too (and terrific gourmet pizza).
yeah i'd agree with Macnivens for sure, and the Tomlinson Tap Room. Between the 2 places you should get pretty good choices. I would recommend Flat 12 over Sun King if you are going to visit a brewery, you can actually get pints at Flat 12, they generally have food there as well, and you can obviously taste whatever you want to.

I'd add Chatham Tap on Mass Ave to all the excellent suggestions as well. Plenty of good places in the downtown area.
Oh My Gosh, you guys are all so great, I thank you so much for your advice. i will be there Friday- Sunday but Sunday will be primarily the pub crawl day. I'll be out there June 8-10th and will report back after that. Thank you again! kerry
no Rempo, liberal here! LOL I am a massage therapist and President of my CT chapter. We have a National Board of Directors meeting in Indy. Massage therapists are beer drinkers or sober, no in between.
