Hey everyone, I was planning on being in town for the week of July 16th-22nd and noticed that Belmont Station is having Puckerfest during this time. I wont actually be getting in until tuesday evening, but this sounds like something that would be right up my alley once we check in at the hotel. Is there still plenty to sample by the end of Puckerfest or are things pretty picked over at that point? Is there anything special they usually release at the store along with the fest? Thanks for your help! Hopefully I will get to run into a couple of you there.
We have roughly 30 different kegs lined up already, and we always end up getting deluged with things right before the event, so there will probably be closer to 60 beers featured during the week. 12-14 beers will be rotating through the system all week, and we'll have several "featured brewer days" where we'll bring in 3-5 beers from places like Upright or Block 15 and have the brewers on hand to talk about their beer. You may miss a few things from the first couple days, but we make sure the line up stays as interesting as possible all week long. If you want to get an idea of how it goes you can read the twitter updates from last year's festival. If you're a twitter user you can follow that feed for daily updates of things getting tapped, and once we start nailing down the events schedule I'll be updating the website as well. Just as an example, here's the sour/wild ales that were on tap during the Upright meet the brewer event last year: Upright Blend Love Flat Tail Berliner Weisse Double Mountain Devil's Kriek 2011 Uppright Lambicus 6 Jolly Pumpkin Madruga Obscura Upright Sole Comp 1st Anniversary beer Belmont Station 14th Anniversary beer BFM Bon Chien 2010 Oud Beersel Framboise Deschutes Sour Saison BJ's Enfant Terrible 2007 NBB Lips of Faith Eric's Sour Peach Ale
Thank you! Really looking forward to the event, you can definitely count on seeing me that tuesday and wednesday!
Great response from Chris/maltmaster420, so it sounds like you're set on Puckerfest. You picked a great week to be in Portland, as the PIB will be happening that weekend, too (July 20-22) [full disclosure: I work for that Fest, so I'm a big proponent ]. Hope to meet you there!
That's a very good week indeed. I'll be at both Puckerfest and the PIB Brian/msubulldog25 mentioned above. Both are on my short list of must do's this summer. See you around OP...
OP, if you're curious as to what all was poured last year, I pulled all the descriptions from last year and created a handy dandy list. I may be missing a couple of things, but that's close enough to complete. In fact, I'm pretty sure we poured a handful of "mainstream" sour ales like Rodenbach Grand Cru and Duchesse at some point in the week, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Wont be able to make that unfortunately as we will be camping at this point, the event looks fantastic though! Thanks! I will give it a look now
