Hey everybody. Will be getting a late start on the road up to GABF so probably am going to stay somewhere in the Pueblo area tonight. Any beer bars of note that you guys would recommend? Also is it worth staying in the downtown area or just one of those streets off of I-25 with clusters of motels? Thanks for your help!

Best place would be to stay at the Marriott downtown (or Springhill right across the street). Within walking distance is Brues AleHouse (best craft beer place) and they have solid food. Also, a decent amount of guest taps. If you want a unique experience there is a Hotel above Brues called The Station. The whole building is the old police station.

You can also walk to Shamrock Brewing, which also has decent food and 8-10 taps. There is a small lager-driven place within walking distance of the Marriott, as well, called Walter's. Not sure about their hours so probably want to look into it before you make the walk.

There is plenty of decent places to eat around that area since you are right by the Riverwalk, but you really cant go wrong going to Brues for beer and food, great three-story patio right on the riverwalk too.

BONUS: if you are looking for a dive bar that is usually a lot of fun go to Smitty's Greenlight Tavern, its a Pueblo Institution. Also, hit Pantry Diner for breakfast in the morning, its within 3 min of the riverwalk area.

EDIT: Walter's opens at 3:00 pm.

That's great info, thanks so much. The area sounds great, the both of those hotels are around 150 a night so combined with what I'm paying for GABF jacked up hotel rates, that will put me just north of a million dollars and hotel charges for the week. Oh well, it's only once a year
