So it looks like Hangar 24’s third release of Pugachev’s Cobra is starting to hit the market as Hacienda Beverage (Brea) just received a shipment about an hour ago.

Any other sightings of Pugachev’s Cobra in the area? Is this something that typically Total Wine and/or BevMo would get?

    Thank you!

One Stop Liquor in La Habra got them in today as well.

IIRC, TW got PC last year.

How is this beer? Does it trade well for East Coast stuff? Doesn't seem very well known.

To me, it drinks like a poor man's Black Tuesday. Just not as smooth or quite complex as BT.

This is one of my favorite beers but unfortunately I had to prioritize and go to the Eclipse release party and the Drake's Reunion Barleywine release last weekend and missed out on this one - definitely looking for a few bottles.

So we're basing a good beer on the trade value?

It doesn't trade well, but then again none of the Barrel Rolls do. The brewery hasn't gotten all that much national coverage. But the beer is pretty good. I've had it side by side against Firestone Parabola and it held its own. I don't agree with the comparison with BT. This isn't too hot or overly sweet. You get a good barrel taste to a great stout.

It's a solid BBA Imp Stout. Nothing mind-blowing, but worth to seek out. I wouldn't pay more than $25 for a bottle.

Agreed, the bottles were $20 at the Hangar 24 release last Sat.

Total Wine Brea got them in on Wednesday as did Hacienda Beverage. Hacienda sold out, not sure about TW Brea.

Total Wine Tustin has 2 cases @ $18 I believe. Cheaper than at Hanger 24
May I add that they also have 3 cases each of Pliny and Blind Pig, as well as Ghost of Jacob Barely

Firestone anniversary typically sits on the shelf due to the price tag for a bit of time. Likewise the barrel roll series often sits a little out of the typical price range for something that people don't normally associate with whales

I talked to the guys at Liquor Depot in Temecula an they said they don't get Hangar's special releases because BevMo cut a deal with them to carry it exclusively at their stores. Any insight or truth to this. If this is the case, we can expect it at BevMo's.

I have no insights to BevMo's deals, but they can't be exclusive retailer when many other liquor stores and Total Wine sell it.

Though I have noticed a lot more of Immelmann showed up at most Bevmo's when I previously didn't see barrel rolls there.

Saw an empty case at Total Wine off El Toro on Saturday. Left with a consolation Supplication to my gratification.
