Last year the favorites were: Hoppin Frog Frog's Hollow Imperial Pumpkin, Southern Tier Pumking, and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin. Looking forward to deciding this year's favorites. Cheers BA

I've tried quite a few, and none have been as good as that one. Too many taste artificial, or lack balance.

Pumpkins are for pie, not for beer IMHO.

Saw this on the shelf recently. A pumpkin porter WTF?! I didnt pull the trigger on it because its too early for fall beers for me. I dont mind Redhook actually. I checked and it said it came out last year but I never saw it until now.

I haven't had that one, but a local brewer, Spring House, does a Pumpkin Stout. It's pretty damn tasty too.

I'd like to give it a try. There aren't enough pumpkin porters and stouts that make it to distro. I think the roasted and chocolate notes calm the spices down a bit.

I haven't had it either but I much prefer pumpkin stouts and porters to the watery amber like stuff that most breweries do. It should be coming out soon, so maybe I'll buy a single to review on a cool night

What's wrong with a pumpkin porter? If you get a chance get yourself Elysian's Dark O' The Moon, which is also a pumpkin porter or stout and well worth trying. Everyone (even if they don't like pumpkin beers) should also try Elysian's Great Pumpkin—for me it's the standard by which all pumpkin beers are judged. Hell, Elysian has seven current pumpkin beers listed, including a pumpkin sour and a pumpkin IPA.

Its a tie between Southern Tier Pumking and Schlafly's Pumpkin. Followed by all of Elysian's pumpkin offerings. Heavy Seas The Greater Pumpkin is pretty good as well. I had a Harpoon Pumpkin last night... disgusting.

Awesome. We have one as well (usually) and this year I'm hoping to get St. Arnold's Pumpkinator for it.

The dogfish punkin head is good but the rogue first growth pumpkin patch ale is better. Good pumpkin flavor in both but you still know your drinking beer

Has anyone tried the Midnight Sun TREAT Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter? This has been on my radar for years now as we unfortunately can't get Midnight Sun in CT.

    Opinions?

Available anywhere near the CT border?

Also as a follow up, Pumking is currently tops for me

While not the best I've had, I finally had Ithaca's Country Pumpkin and that is a good pumpkin beer. That may actually move into being the one I buy a case of for the fall nights I want a pumpkin ale but don't want to pop a Pumking.
