Pumpkin beer recommendations?

I just had the Pumpkick and it reminds me of fall for sure, but has quite a bit of cranberry in it. Nice drinkable beer and a good fall beer for sure, but lots of cran kick to it.

 

I had a Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale on tap last night. It was a very good beer but I'm just not a big fan of all the spices. I didn't get a lot of pumpkin out of it. Not my favorite style of beer.

I'm going to whisper my answer as quietly as possible in hopes that everyone ignores it...Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine is the best pumpkin beer I have ever had and it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up as the best one I ever have.

 

Good gourd is my favorite pumpkin its def worth trying to get one to open up

Chatoe Rogue pumpkin ale was the best I've had.

Epic/DC Brau Fermentation Without Representation is good, too.

I tried Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin last night and was not impressed.

 

Just tried shipyard smashed pumpkin and was pretty disappointed.
I've only tried that and smuttynose pumpkin in that category.
Bring on the pumking and good gourd

 

Agree whole-heartedly -- the 'King only being bested by the oaked version. All Pumking haters should try the oak-aged as the barrels really seem to smooth out the flavors.

 

I have tried so many of these. Many great ones like ST pumking, Weyerbacher Imperial, Pumpkinator and Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine. However, the best hands down, and I mean it really leaves the others in the dust is Cigar City Good Gourd. It's like eating a pumpkin cream pie, so silky on the mouthfeel and the taste and nose are like pure heaven. Beautifully balanced with just the right amount of cinnamon and nutmeg, it is truly a world class brew and makes a great dessert!!

I think I need to try a pumpkin stout or something with a heavier body. So far the pumpkin beers I tried have felt to light bodied for my liking, despite abv levels as high as 9%
Is pumking heavy bodied? That will be my next pumpkin beer

 

Visiting family in Pa. end of September. Really spoiled with Cigar City Good Gourd in Tampa but would love to try this one. Where in Pa. is it available (Scranton maybe)?

 

If anyone likes the Schlafly Pumpkin, then grab yourself a 12.12.12. Two of the worst brews I have ever had.
My favorite, Pumking. But it is too sweet, one glass a year after Thanksgiving dinner is my limit!

 

Keep sleepin' on Alewerks Pumpkin Ale y'all, and I will continue to buy ALL OF IT !!!

The brewery is here in Pittsburgh, I'm not sure if you will be able to easily find it in NE PA. But definitely take a look!

 

does anybody think pumpkin beers have a kind of metallic taste to them at times??

I can only get long trail, shipyard and smutty where I live...
