Schlafly, hands down. Also, their draft only pumpkin stout is awesome too. Summit's imperial pumpkin porter was also fantastic. Our local, flat branch brew pub, also does one that's better than many bottled offerings

Looks like it is. There's an ad for Fat Jack in the latest edition of a New England beer periodical.

CBC Great Pumpkin Ale is the only one I've tried that does not taste like liquified pumpkin pie because of spicing, yet clearly has some actual pumpkin flavor in a real beer. Interestingly, of the four higher-rated pumpkin ales on BA, so far, only Elysian (1x) and Southern Tier Pumking (8x) have been mentioned. And STP is almost the opposite of what I was looking for in a pumpkin ale. Shockingly few people are exposed to the CBC version, even in MA (and it's cheaper too!). All the others I've had either have too much spice or taste/smell like rotten vegg or are too gimmicky to be called "beer" (often too sweet). I'd like to do a blind test of CBC vs. STP vs CCB version, but availability is an issue in these parts.

PS: There should be a BCBPS version...:grimacing:

It's crazy that there were pumpkin beers on the shelves in late July in 100+ weather in D.C.

Foothill's Cottonwood Pumpkin Ale... Williamsburg Alewerks a close second. I would love to get my hands on SA Pumkinator as well as CCB Good Gourd this year. Failed miserably last year.

To be clear, you're looking for Pumking by Southern Tier, not Pumpking by Wychwood! That's the one that folks are raving about on here.

Weyerbacher, Good Gourd, and ST Pumking were my top 3 I tried last year. Excited to see how this year's batch turns out.

I haven't had one yet that I've liked, wish I was a fan of Oktober fest styles, and Pumpkin beers but I'm not.

Drainpoured Pumking, made it through Punk'n, actually enjoy all of Elysian's pumpkin beers. Theirs are the only ones I will buy.

I don't know about where you are, but in Atlanta we just got a massive shipment of Pumking a week or so ago.

As for my favorite pumpkin beers, it's definitely between Good Gourd and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. I really want to get my hands on a Ghoulschip... I think that might take over the number one spot for me. Of course, that isn't a yearly released beer so I don't know if it would technically count.

My thoughts exactly. I'll throw in a few more to follow those though.

Lavery Stingy Jack (which is going to be called The Devil's Pumpkin Ale this year)
    Weyerbacher Imp Pumpkin
    Pumking

The only one that I've tried that I liked was NB LoF "Kick". It didn't have the pumpkin pie taste, more of a sour.

Not really big on the style but ST pumpking and DFH punkin were the best.
