I bought the regular shipyard pumpkin and the place had smashed pumpkin bombers. Should I go back and grab a bomber?

EDIT: DAMN IT. I wasted my money. People here say pumpkinhead is the worst they've had and hte reviews for hte brew on this site rank it under a 3. Uh oh.

Huge fan of the Dogfish Head Punkin', but wasn't able to find it in Michigan last year.

If anyone is up for a trade for some Michigan-made pumpkin beers (Jolly Pumpkin's "La Parcela," Griffin Claw's "Screamin' Pumpkin," Arcadia's "Jaw Jacker," New Holland's "Ichabod," North Peak's "Hooligan," etc.), I'd love to try some that don't get distributed in this neck of the woods (Cigar City, Schlafly, etc.). Let me know!

    Pumking

Mention worthy.. rumkin. I am sure this new terrapin pumpkin pie beer will be solid if it follows close to CR W-n-B

Yes, when I first had Smashed Pumpkin it was decent. Then after about a year, I had one from the same batch and the pumpkin flavor was far more noticeable and therefore more enjoyable IMO.

I don't have a favorite Pumpkin beer, this is the one style that I don't like! To each his own.

DFH Punkin' has always been a Fall go to for me. Based on this list, I have some serious work to do. Thanks @drmcleod10 for getting it started!

DFH Punkin' is the sign of fall for me. Other breweries are trying to get me to recognize fall's existence in July/August. Bunch of bitches.

I loved Pumking but (locally) love Avery's Rumkin. The week before that comes out this year, they are releasing their new bourbon aged version, Pump(KY)n. Can't wait to try that one.

    Agree with most mentioned.

Stay away from Post Road though. One of the worst, yet seems to stock floor space in MD bottle shops more than most pumpkin brews.

Fall is pretty much my favorite time of year and although it's not Fall yet, I love it when pumpkin beers are released. I look forward to it every season.

    My personal favorites:

    Pumking
    Schlafly
    Elysian Night Owl
    Elysian Great Pumpkin
    Elysian Dark O' The Moon
    Heavy Seas The Great'r Pumpkin
    Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

    Honorable Mention:
    Weyerbacher
    Brewwork's Devious Pumpkin
    Epic Fermentation w/out Representation
    Carton Pumpkin Cream Ale
    Samuel Adams Fat Jack

    Guilty Pleasure:
    Shipyard Pumpkinhead

    Drinkable:
    Riverhorse Hipp-O-Lantern
    Smuttynose
    Samual Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale

    Most Overrated:
DFH Punkin' - I really don't care for this one. Try to give it a chance every year and I'm just always let down.

    Want List:
    Pumpkinator
    CCB Good Gourd
    Avery Rumpkin
    Horsheads Pumpkin Ale

    Not Good At All:
Brooklyn Old Post - I must be missing something but there is never anything remotely Pumpkin about this beer.
The Pumple Drumkin - quite possibly the worst

Forgot about Hoppin' Frog. Pretty decent.

Wishful thinking is right. I'd be all over some BCPS....Holy mackerel there Mahoney. If anyone could do it right, it would be those guys.

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin. I believe this has the best balance of flavors. Many of the other general pumpkin beers don't carry much pumpkin or pumpkin spice flavors. This one is thorough....and available year-round.

I didn't know they did a pumpkin ale, will definitely keep an eye open for it...
