I acquired 2 pumpkin beers last week in a 12 case beer swap.
The Shipyard Pumpkinhead was undrinkable. Tasted like dishwater with spices.
The Troeggs Pumpkin Ale was slightly better, but way too spicy.

I continue to try to find a pumpkin beer I can enjoy, but no luck. I'll stick with my trusty IPA's

Terrapin Pumpkinfest for me. Its an Oktoberfest spiked with Cinnamon, Ginger, Allspice, Cloves and Pumpkin.

IMO Night Owl and Pumking taste very similar, but Night Owl is better.

Schlafly, Smashed Pumpkin, Night Owl, Blight (also Elysian), Maple Mistress, Jacques O Lantern.
Didn't particularly enjoy Pumpkick, Weyerbacher, Alewerks, Pumpkinhead (obviously), or Ichabod.
Hoping to soon try Good Gourd, Greater Pumpkin, Punkaccino, Warlock, and Jack's Abby

I've got a Greater Pumpkin in the fridge, I'm not usually a spiced beer fan, but I want to see what barrel aging does to this style.

You Know I had He Said... (Triple, Porter) from 21st Amendment Best Pumpkin beers I have had so far cause they were not so overly spiced.

Great to see all of the out-of-towner love for Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale! I will enjoy the style from time to time although it's not my favorite. I don't always drink Pumpkin Beers, but when I do...I prefer Schlafly's.

I too love pumpkin beers. It makes this time of year that much better to know that we will be inundated with pumpkin based beer.

I have had a lot this year. But so far, Stevens Point Whole Hog has been my favorite. Yeah, Pumking was alright, but I feel that there are many more beers with less hype that are better in the pumpkin category. Elysian's Great Pumpkin and Punkuccino were also stellar offerings this year.

Now, this could all change when I decide to crack open the Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin BW or the Voodoo CAUTION CONTAINS REAL PUMPKIN.

I plan on drinking a lot of pumpkin beers this October and have a list going:

    -Top Tier-
Cisco Pumple Drumkin - Great blend of hopiness and pumpkin spices
Cape Ann Fisherman's Imperial Pumpkin Stout - Good stout with pumpkin notes
Ithaca Country Pumpkin - Really liked the sweet maltiness going on
Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin - Spices really blended well in this one. Drinks great for 8% just with it was slightly less carbed.

    -Middle Tier-
Sam Adams Pumpkin Harvest - Solid with moderate spice and sweetness. Readily available to pick up for parties.
Harpoon UFO Pumpkin - Another solid option readily available. Easy drinking too.
Anderson Valley Fall Hornin' - Decent but a little too sweet and vanilla tasting to rank higher.
Long Trail Pumpkin Ale - Not a bad pumpkin beer, but I rate it behind the SA and Harpoon offerings.

    -Misses-
Wasatch Pumpkin Ale - Not that great an ale base with no finish to the spices it starts with. Not for me.
Southern Tier Pumpking - I hated Pumking this year and it sort of surprised me. Unbalanced spices and way too buttery. Won't do that again with so many other options.

Not an exhaustive list by any means and I still have a bunch more to go through.

I'm from Ithaca, glad to see the country pumpkin up there. Not a big Ithaca beer fan, but the Pumpkin beer is really good this year

Just tried it with a friend who has tried many more pumpkin beers than I have. Neither of us tasted much of the barrel aging but we both enjoyed it anyway. I have another one in my fridge so I see if that one has any more barrel flavor.

So far i've had: Greater Pumpkin, Punkin Ale and Weyerbacher. I think my favorite is the Greater Pumpkin thus far. I have at the house the Alewerks, Good Gourd and Crown Valley. Excited to get into those.

I never liked pumpkin beers until I had Lakefront's Imperial pumpkin. The vanilla and brandy make that beer absolutely out of this world delicious. Just bought 2 more 4 packs and they're less than $10!

I have never had the Good Gourd but I might have to see if I can find it. I have not had this year's but my favorite is Fegley's (Allentown Brew Works) Devious.

Oak pumking, wow sounds great. Pumking, warlock, rumpkin, draft night owl would be my top that I've had. Pumking was really good in 2012. The last two years could be better. 2013 is drinking better now though. Not sure why they keep messing it up. Hopefully 2015 will be better. At least warlock was good. I need to find some of the other ones mentioned.

Maybe we all have biases off of what we first tried. I remember my first pumpkin beer being Dogfish. Compared to all the newer pumpkin beers that I have tried since (years since Dogfish), Southern Tier Pumpking in particular, have that artificial taste.

The best three I've ever had in no particular order are Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale, Almanac's Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine, and Good Gourd Almighty.
