Foothills just tapped this years Cottonwood Pumpkin. Cottonwood is one of my favs and is Pumking. And this years batch of Pumking is great. Better than last IMO. This is my favorite time of year. football, honey crisp apples (random yes I know), and pumpkin beer.

So here in the south, if you like pumpkin brews and have recommendations, I'm all ears. I love this style.

    cheers everybody!

I love the aformentioned Cottonwood and King Don's as well.

In addition to those, a few other good local options would be NoDa's Gordgeous and Big Boss's Harvest Time.

Catawba's King Don's and NoDa's Gourdgeous are my two favorites. Punkin from Dogfish Head is good, too. I don't care for Cottonwood or Pumking personally

In VA, Williamsburg Alewerks and Hardywood Park both make a good pumpkin.

That it does. Wish they would can it. If I was going to Charlotte some time soon, I'd get some.

This is my last shot at Pumpkin beer. I have tried, but haven't found any I've liked. This year I'm giving it one last shot. My last two attempts will be Southern Tier and DFH. I recently had Weyerbachers and it was a definite no go. After this years tryouts I may have to just admit Pumpkin beer isn't my thing. I admit I haven't tried a great many, but enough. After awhile it becomes "what's the point." No point in forcing myself. Too bad....I really wanted to like this. Something to look forward to.

    Wish me luck!

If you haven't tried pumking this year I encourage you to do so. Last years batch did not have that patented IP/graham cracker crust armoa & scent. That's what sets that brew apart from others in my opinion. DFH punkin is good but to each their own I guess. Some other ones to try if you can get your hands on them are:
    DuClaw pumpkin retribution
    Pumpkinator
    Schlafly pumpkin
Sam Adams Oktoberfest---yeah not pumpkin but one of my favorite fall beers.

    Happy searching!

Thanks for that. Yea, Pumking has been staring me in the face everytime I go to buy brew but I just haven't pulled the plug yet. I mean geez...its only August!!! :grinning: But I'm going to grab some soon. Thanks for the recommendations. Noted.

Just had aviators pumpkin beast and crown valleys pumpkin smash. Both very solid pumpkin brews. Really pleased with aviators as it was very well balanced.

I've heard good things about that Pumpkin Smash and meant to try it last year but never got around to it. I can't drink them this early, but maybe I should go ahead and buy some bottles to enjoy in a month or so before they're gone.

Does Pumpkin Smash make it down to Charlotte? I'm going that way in a few weeks and wanted to know if I can get it then or if I need to trade for it.

Love Pumking and Warlock. Another good one is Steven's Point Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale
