Starting to see the great pumpkin beers out and about. I.E. pumking and cottonwood. A bit early if you ask me but I do love these beers. I'm not ready for summer to be over just yet.

Went to Foothills saturday night and the Pumpkin this year is drinking great. Don't remember it being this good last year.

IMO, pumpkin beers shouldn't come out until after Labor Day, or at least last until the actual fall. I remember last year struggling to find any pumpkin beers towards Halloween/Thanksgiving.

pumpkin beers should come out when people will buy them, which is basically anytime of the year. they sell fast

Way too early. I won't drink them 'til October.

It was frustrating during Halloween/Thanksgiving not to find pumpkin brews. That needs to be addressed.

I remember when Cottonwood Pumpkin was one of the top Pumpkin beers on Beeradvocate. I even made a trip up to the brewery, to get free pints of it.

Can a pumpkin beer cellar for a few months without losing its juice? If so, who cares when they come out? If not, I agree, they should be released in Sept.

Spiced beers are the last thing you want to cellar, in my opinion.

Thanks, don't know much about them. Put me in the "It's stupid launch a fall beer in the middle of summer that can't be aged" camp.

Why not just buy a few now when they are out, hide them until October and then bust them out? That's what I Intend on doing. The beer will hold up for 2-3 month time frame from sitting to drinking. Then problem is solved. When stouts are released in the summer time such as the goose island stout just released or pegs rare/rarer/nooner, nobody complained and its definitely not "stout season". Zhukov is getting released Thursday and I am stoked to stock up on it for when it does cool off.

Yeah, I bought several Good Gourd that will be relaxing in my pantry until October and November, with one sitting around til next summer, because I rather enjoyed the 12 they had on tap for Catador members. This one tastes fine with age if you ask me.

I understand the business side of things and the argument that if people are buying them, why not release them. I'm just on the other side, where I'll only drink them when it actually feels like fall outside.

Most spices fall off pretty quickly, so in my opinion it's not a style that really cellars well. Your mileage may vary with some of the imperial or barrel-aged versions, though.
