I make a drink that I call "50 Warlocks." 50/50 blend of Warlock and Ten Fidy...it's damn good I have nothing of value to add...apologies.
I was thinking that myself, but I think they'd have some legal issues there by altering an existing product that they don't "own" and then selling it.
Checked their Facebook page, and apparently this was real (see bottom of menu), so it seems likely they made it themselves (its on cask), or else somehow OB sent the lone cask of it to a podunk bar in Galveston....
Apparently this bar doesn't believe in keeping it "local"... almost everything on that list is from CO
Very strange; I have never seen a bar do this before and I imagine they had to get an OK from OB to add spices to a cask of their beer...
I don't see why they would, once they buy it, I think it's theirs to do what they please (like when a bar makes a black and tan, I don't think they have to get permission from each of the beers to mix the two together, you know?). I wish I could find out what they mixed with it, I'd love to take a can of Ten Fidy and try to make a pumpkin spice beer! Come on home brewers, help me out, what would you mix?
But the way they market it is important. I think the way they list this on the menu is misleading... It's one thing if they said "Pumpkin Spiced Oskar Blues Ten Fidy" or "Our Own Pumpkin Spiced Oskar Blues Ten Fidy." But here, it makes it same like Oskar Blues makes this beer called Pumpkin Spiced Ten Fidy. Just my 2 cents.
If they put a disclaimer with it addressing that it was an in-house addition, sure, but if they market it as an OB beer I'd have an issue with it. As for doing it at home, I'd say 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon and nutmeg with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie seasoning in a french press with 1/4 of the can, steep for 15 minutes and blend back into the 3/4 can. In fact, I'm doing it this weekend. ^^^This
@MEW and @StrongRepublican that makes sense, had not thought of it that way and I could see why that would be an issue. I guess this post is proof enough that it would be confusing to people. And that sounds awesome with the homemade pumpkin Ten Fidy...I'm going to give that a try myself!
