Um, Specs Should get by 15, they usually do releases on the same day. Specs downtown is probably the last place you want to check since they have a line before they open. (usually because people want to be on the news, at least this is my assumption, since why would you wait 1-2 hrs when you can easily go down to HEB and get it.)

My best bet would be for you to drive to the HEB on umm 59/Edloe or the Krogers there. Im probably hitting up central market and others around 8:00 AM since I go in to work by 12. Im trying to pick up 6 bombers for myself, doubt ill be able to pick them all up at one location but we will see. That or make friends at a beer shop, bribe them with money or food lol. I think I have a beer guy now but I don't know how reliable he will be but we shall see.

I don't see why waiting in line at Specs is a big deal. A friend of mine waited in line at Central Market (or one of the HEBs, can't remember) from 8am till 4pm for one of the DRs. The people there did not know, or would not tell when the truck would show up with the goods. I went downtown at 9:30, got my two six packs at a little past 10. While SpecsBEERMAN got us all coffee and donuts. That is pretty easy if you ask me, but what do I know?

I got it last year and it was on the floor at my local HEB for several weeks

I just assume it takes time, did not know it was that quick. I guess for me it was easier to walk in to HEB buy my beer and go my way. Im guessing special release days they probably have all their cashiers open, so maybe not that long of a line. Maybe I will go to Specs this time around, save me a few bucks lol

Also, more and more places are getting it. Specs use to be the only reliable place, unless you wanted to take a chance that HEB or Kroger would have it. Now it is a better bet then say a few years ago that that will be the case. Like gtermi said, his HEB has it sitting on the floor:grimacing: I think there is still that mentality with a lot of people that Specs is the sure thing. I still have that mentality for some releases.

I grew up in League City and now I live off of Dixie Road and I45.

I too have the same mentality. Every time I think about a beer release I just think about Spec's and forget about how good the beer selection is at HEB.

Thanks for the heads up guys! I hope we can all acquire our horde of Pumpkinator! I will check downtown specs that day and see if I can get a bomber or two. Possibly move to the HEB in my area afterwards to get to my 5. Can't wait to age these bad boy! Also, saw Brock at the No Label 1st/2nd anniversary party at their brewery. Was about to ask more on pumpkinator but he left while I was in line trying to get BBQ! Why you leave us hanging BROCK!?

Was just bombers last year, so I assume they'll stick to that.

So what other pumpkin beer would you compare this to ? I just moved here 2 years ago and I have never had it. I am going to try to pick it up this year.

I havent had Pumpkinator yet, but am looking forward to it. Tried Schlafly Pumpkin Ale last night, and it was great, so we'll see how Pumkinator holds up in comparison.

It isn't just a pumpkin beer, its a pumpkin stout. The pumpkin and spice also have a rich, roasty, chocolately, and tad bitter background.

You need to try pumpking, that's one of the better tasting pumpkin ales I've had, I wish I would've gotten more than that 1 Schafly bottle I did. I can't recall how it tastes now in comparison, but Pumpking is a good one.

Thank you. I am putting Pumpking as my top pumpkin beer right now but I really want to get a hold of this bottle.

You should be able to find some, just hit up HEB or Krogers on the day of the release, those that carry a craft selection will have it.
