Heading down to the QC this Thanksgiving again. Hit me up if anyone's interested in an in person trade or meeting up for a beer!

If there's enough interest, Front Street in Davenport has allowed us to hold tastings in their basement in the past.

I'll be in town too man (wife's family). I'd definitely be down to trade or share. Hopefully we can work something out

I'm about 35 minutes south of the Quad Cities, so I may be interested in hanging out, trading, etc.

Wait, Front Street has held tastings in the basement? That's amazingly cool.

For those coming into the area, make sure you hit up Green Tree Brewery in Le Claire. They're putting out some world-class beers, which is crazy for how young an operation they are.

It's been a few years, but yes on a few occasions. They've always been very receptive, and I think it helps that we all order food and tip VERY well when we're done.

As long as I have space, I have acess to a lot of Mpls goodies to trade.

Bumping this back up. In town through Sunday morning and have few plans besides Turkey Day. I didn't bring enough to get a tasting going, but would still be up to meet for a beer at some point if people are looking to escape the family for a few hours

Will be in the area. Totally hitting up Green Tree...can't wait now that I read they're doing some good things. Will post when heading there (likely Saturday afternoon) and if others are around we can clank glasses and sing old songs...or whisper about hop profiles.

Just my opinion, but i would temper expectations. Very mediocre. I'm walking distance from there and have been in once since it opened...haven't felt the need to return. Pretty much the same as the rest of the swill coming out of the QC. Loads of better beers on the shelf that i can drink at home. The drinking environment there is very nice though. Great place to take in a game.

Sorry, this was probably too harsh but there are probably 8 breweries around here now and they all put out the same stuff that tastes about like a generic home brew. Somebody just step up make make some great beer here. The QC is obviously a thirsty bunch!

Understood. I looked today what's on tap and nothing appears to be too appealing. Not to be too generic and needing MOAR HOPZ PLZ but I was hoping for a couple different hop offerings...Green Tree sounds like a place that would brew some tasty pale ales. Not much sticks out. As you state, it appears the typical lineup that as you state, is already being cranked out (and not all that good). I'll check it out though, of course!

Nailed it, not a single brewery in the QC that goes out of their way to push the limits. I was once hopeful for great river but they haven't panned out either.

Heading out to Hy Vee in Rock Island tomorrow to see if I can snag some Goose Island. Say hi if you see a guy in Surly gear.

Will the Illinois side Hy Vees for sure be doing Bourbon County release in the AM? Upon opening (7AM) at all stores if so?! Going to try and attend one as well but am going on blind faith the one I choose is actually selling the stuff.

I'm also going out on blind faith here, don't have any inside info on releases.

Good luck to us then I suppose!! I'll keep an eye out for ya. Do you at least know of a history if these stores doing a release?! Pretty hush-hush these days.

Went to Green Tree on Thanksgiving night and didn't think it was that bad. Their IPA is pretty average but I do think they are doing a pretty good job with their adjuncted stouts--I enjoyed the Mintery Knight and Chocolate Cherry Coffee Stout.

Oh ok cool, my family lives in between in Alpha and New Windsor and we still have a farm in North Henderson. My cousin owns a store in downtown Galesburg called Rivet. Good to know there's some good beer ppl in the area.
