I have finally gotten around to reviewing places, and I'm just wondering what exactly is the quality category (if you are not including food). Are you rating the quality of the beer that they have?

I tend to think of it as the decor and how well kept the place is. If there is excrement smeared across the walls of the bathroom, while it may hurt the vibe of the place, it definitely more significantly bumps quality down. That was a low quality bathroom. If things are pristine, well kept, accessible, whatever, then that place was high quality.

I tend to think of quality as representing the use of proper glassware, good pours with appropriate amounts of head for the style, clean lines, and proper temperature.

I was talking more about Liquor stores.

In that case I usually rate based on whether or not the beer is stored cold, in sunlight or brightly light shelving, and if the beers I check out are in code (past their best by dates).
