I have done a few ISO's where I have offered up SPECIFIC quantity for a "quality" beer, in some cases this has gone easy and other cases I have eventually added to get this done.

I have seen many ISO's lately with quantity for quality, but it is usually listed as some combo of a list.

I mainly ignore these posts but have been tempted a couple times to respond.

I guess my question is does anyone else feel uncomfortable asking for a bunch of beer for 1 in return and how do you go about determining the QTY.

Is it logical, I would trade this only if I was to receive 6X or is there some attempt to match Rarity Value to Quamtity value.

After reading this I am getting the feeling that many are going to say, "Who is this idiot" but hitting "Create Thread" anyway.

What difference does it make if it is one way or the other? Either you agree that it's okay to trade one bottle for many or many bottles for one (obviously okay) or you don't (???).

I've been on both sides of it. Yesterday I finalized a trade for 8 bottles of random gueuze for a Cantillon one off, and both of us are happy. Isn't that the whole point? Sometimes people want to use their tough to get bottles to get another equally tough to get bottle, and sometimes people want to use their tough to get bottle to get several bottles all at once. I don't see the problem with that.

If someone has a beer I really want I will throw a bunch of beer at them. Just did that for bramble and Veritas. Needed to try it.

I can see why ba's would trade a rare kinda brew for multiples of a brew he likes, and would prefer volume.Would you prefer a BC Rare or to throw out a number a dozen BCBS? I would opt for the BCBS after drinking a couple of 2008 BCBS's. Just an example , not a clue on the Rare for BCBS ratio.

Even more reasons to have the ISO:FT section post only.

Nope. Don't feel even a little uncomfortable with it. In fact...I'd rather "trade down" and get a number of quality bottles for 1 bottle that someone else deems worthy of those quality bottles....than to trade a bunch of bottles for one. Mind you...I've done both...but I'd rather have a handful of nice drinking experiences, than one. I'm of the opinion that no matter how good or rare a beer may be, the likelihood that the experience is going to be far superior to drinking any number of other quality beers, is minimal.

Determining quantity's tough. Generally $4$ should still apply....but if you're giving up a real nice bottle for stuff that can be had off the shelf, I think you're justified in asking for more in return. How much more probably depends on too many factors for there to be some set kind of formula.

I almost always trade quality for quantity as shipping from South Africa is just soooo expensive. That said I will soon be doing a quantity of quality beers for one of higher quality!

I've also done both. Just yesterday I traded away my last Rare for 2 BA Speedway Stouts and a Vietnamese Coffee. I know I Loved the 2009 Speedway, I have also never had the VSS and I really wanted to try it. With the overwhelming responses within the first 3 minutes I'm sure I could have got more but overall both parties are happy.
