My local store in Ithaca, NY just got this in and it is $34 and change after tax which would make this the most expensive beer I have ever purchased. What have other people payed for this? Is it worth trying?

Given that it's a Bruery beer, I'd say that most people in the area would probably have paid around that much. Whether it's worth trying has more to do with whether you'd feel comfortable dropping $34 on a beer you might not like.

$34 is a couple bucks more than I've seen it. As for whether it's worth the price, there are 56 reviews you can read.

Personally, I'm an RS member, and a huge Bruery fanboi, I wasn't into the Bois, I haven't had any since I received my allocations (I've got one New Oak left), I may have been big beered out at the time, though. But, since you haven't had any yet it might be worth checking out. The price is fine.

$30-$40 is the price I see being thrown around. I paid $36 but it was $44 and on sale. I'm worried I'm going to hate it! I dumped the white oak.

I picked it up in Milwaukee for 25 dollars I thought that was expensive until I read this. This makes me wonder how it was so cheap where I bought it.

$32 with tax is probably slightly under what I paid for it in Jersey. The only reason I paid for it is cuz I split it with someone. Whether it's worth it for you, I don't know, but I can say that I was not a fan. At all. It was overwhelmingly sweet and one dimensional. Probably won't be buying any more Bruery stouts or dark ales or whatever they want to call them any longer.

The Bruery doesn't sell their beers in Minnesota, but I see them all the time in Hudson, WI. They just sit on the shelves collecting dust. Way to expensive for what you are getting.

    It's a great beer but I wouldn't spend $30 on a bottle. I found it on tap for around $6 a pour.

spent $34 on Fruit last year. most i've ever spent on a bottle - was totally worth it.

couldn't bring myself to pay $30+ again this year.

if you really want to try and, and don't mind spending it give it a shot

I used to wonder about this myself. When I was in California I just stopped by the Bruery and tried it on tap. Great beer, but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much. I'd say split the cost/bottle with some good friends and drink it during the holidays. Win win.

I personally don't think it's worth $34, but it's pretty good. Especially if you like sweet beer.

If you can find it on tap (as some others have said) that's the way to go. You won't need more than 6-8oz of it, and most of the pours I saw when it was on in Philly were between 8-12oz for $7-10.

Paid $30 after taxes in Philly. Split the cost with another BA because I didn't want to spend that much on a bottle of something I haven't tried before. Been burnt by The Bruery too many times. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I wanna go in on a bottle with somebody, because having it on tap in June has been one of my favorite beer moments of this year so far. I'd say go for it! It's an excellent beer.

Is Bois the same recipe as Fruet, Cuir etc. just with the solera of previous years?

Pretty much like jjheinrichs said...but having said that ...Papier was weak, Coton and Cuir were great, Fruet was pretty damned good, albeit sweet. Bois is ok.
