Question about bottle waxing...

I just got a few bottles of Saint Arnolds BB6, unfortanutely these bottles are twist offs. A friend said waxing them may help them last a bit longer as I plan on saving these for later in the year, the alcohol content is 13% im just concerned about the bottles not being very secure. Will this help? Also does the waxing process affect the beer temperature wise? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
