I work at a large liquor outlet store and the owner has finally come around to installing a draft system here to fill growlers. We are all excited at the opportunity to fill more of our beer department with great craft beer and less with a zillion configurations of Bud Light packaging.

My job? To keep track of inventory on the system and make sure that customers (or employees) aren't drinking away our stock while no one's watching! Unfortunately we will not be investing in any type of draft control system or keg scale to monitor dispensed amounts in real time, and are working within the strict confines of an old and clunky POS system.

I was wondering if anyone with experience running this type of system could share any advice or experiences with a fledgling growler enterprise.

I am passionate about selling craft beer and really want this growler system to work out for the owner so we can keep delivering the good stuff to our customers and spreading beer advocacy. Hope the community can help me out on this one. Thanks

My bar once had issues with theft and extreme waste. We took to doing daily inventory (great, cheap tool is the SmartStrip...less than $5 each) and comparing ounces missing to ounces sold. And we made sure that everyone on our staff knew that we were monitoring this, and also monitoring the security cameras. Things changed really quickly.
Hope this venture works out well!
