I was recently lucky enough to find it at a distributor close to me and when i was paying for it the clerk asked how far i was from my house...i said a half hour and she then put my 4 pack in a bag with ice... She said her boss told her to make sure she does this for ppl with far commutes home because it cant get warm or itll spoil...has anyone heard this before and if so wats the reason

I know Russian River is meticulous about keeping their Pliny cold until the customer buys them, but I haven't heard of anyone in SoCal that will sell Pliny with ice. I can only trade for Heady, so it's not on ice, and it tasted fine after the cross-country journey in an UPS truck though it might taste different from a fresh one, kept cold from the brewery.

I received a HT as a gift recently and still had some in my fridge that I used to compare. What luck huh... The heady gift was not kept cold in transit back to me and it tasted ...different. The mouthful feel was the first noticeable sign of change. It was thicker feeling...not so good. The beer also seemed less dimensional (fewer hop varieties).
Being that it is not pasteurized, I assume that matters a lot for this brew.
I'm wondering....Did they charge you for the ice? Enjoy!

It's nice that they take such good care of it, but unless they added hollandaise sauce to the recipe people it really shouldn't be necessary for a short trip.
