just had my first one today and i poured an ounce or two out into the glass just for comparison. i agree with you 100% but i'm really confused as to why. i've never heard of other iipa's being better in the can, so is it unique to heady topper's specific hop profile or something?

Tried it both ways the last few nights, and I prefer it out of a glass. I'm sure the can may lock in the aromas better, but you have to stick your nose in that small opening. Drinking it out a snifter was awesome.

ok - here's a different question about H.Topper. Any way to tell when the can I have in my hand was brewed???

I see some code on there but need help reading it. I've looked at the Alchemist website and can seem to find the answer. Just curious if anyone knows.....

    thx in advance!

I have had it both ways as many others. My opinion is that it is better in the can.

I don't think there is any way to tell when it was brewed. I don't think that code has anything to do with the canning date. You could send an email to the Alchemist to be sure.

I wonder that too... doesn't even have spices like Celebration; nor does it turn into a barleywine like Hopslam does.

If they put instructions on the can to stick it in the freezer until there was slushy and then drink it through a funnel, half of BA would insist that that was the best way to drink the beer. It's a good beer, so it will still be good from the can, but I can't list the number of times I've seen posts around here laughing about people seen drinking great beers from the bottle/can in bars. Aroma is just as important to me as flavor in really good IPAs, and to cut that out is to take away from the beer.

The Alchemist is by far the biggest troll in beer today.

I drink it out of the glass...one of the best parts of the beer is the smell, and it's only at full strength when allowed to vent. Not to mention it's a beautiful beer...

The best thing about beer in cans is that you can take it skiing/hiking. That's when you should drink Heady out of a can.

Drinking Heady out of the can right now because I had it out of the glass last time. It is still so delicious.

It's always delicious. I'd drink it out of just about any clean drinking utensil lol.

Did end up drinking it both ways and i definitely enjoyed it much more pouring it into a glass. The aromas were just so much better, for obvious reasons, and too me it was a better beer that way.

    But to each their own

it's just the can code from ball, the manufacturer. it is not a date code.
