Lagunitas Sucks is one of my favorite beers, and I'd really like to acquire a tap handle of it. There is one for sale on an auction site for $60, which seems a bit excessive since all the other current;y brewed Lagunitas tap handles fall into the $15-25 range. From what I can tell, though -- and please correct me if I'm wrong -- is that there are two types of Lagunitas tap handles (white and black) and they simply apply a sticker of whatever beer they're tapping to the handle. So, basically, I could get a blank Lagunitas tap handle on the cheap and a Sucks sticker and get that tap handle for a lot less. Is that actually the case, or is there an "official" Sucks tap handle floating around that I haven't seen yet?
I got mine from the brewery for $30, although I don't currently see it in their on line store. You are correct, they come in either black or white, and the only difference you are seeing is the product name which is called a line card. The brewery gave me all the line cards when I bought the handle. Many breweries now use this technique of a generic handle with line card stickers or inserts. For my other handles like this I have sent the brewery an email and they have sent the line cards out right away. So, you want to buy the cheapest one you can in the color you like and email them and ask for the line cards. Distributors will also have the line cards becuase they supply them to the bars for their handles.
