So I forgot to clean one of my buckets from a previous beer and the yeast and trub sat in there for about a month and it got a little funky.

I decided to do a PBW soak. Flash forward 5 days later, the PBW is still in there.

Will it be ok to just rinse a go or should I dump and clean the bucket again?

    Thanks

Shake and a rinse should be good

If it smells funny or was really dirty might want to use a little more

I'd clean again and sanitize extra good - a little extra time now is better than the wasted time/expense of a bad batch of beer.

You're wondering if the PBW sat in the bucket so long that you should clean it up with more PBW? Just rinse it as usual, unless there is still crud from the month it sat un-cleaned.

You mean give it the same cleaning attention as the op's college dorm room, right?

I'm a slob when it comes to most things, but fermenters can't fend for themselves and need to be protected, imho.

Soaking in detergent too long can result in a thin film of soap scum. StarSan can remove soap scum.

This may be true. But I soak equipment with PBW anywhere between a day and a week, and it's no more difficult to rinse either way. Maybe the type of detergent, water, and other factors can make a difference.

Thanks guys. I rinse and see how it goes.

It will probably be a month before I need it again, so in all likelihood, it will get washed again if I use that fermentor.
