    Hi all,

I've done a trade recently and the guy shipped a box with USPS to Holland. When I asked for the tracking number he replied: "Unfortunately I don't have the tracking number but I can take a pic of the carbon receipt. I guess USPS does not give tracking for certain international shipments."

Is this true? Does the USPS not give tracking numbers for some international shipments? I can't really imagine why they won't.. Would be nice if someone could tell me

    Cheers!

I just did a trade UK/US (I'm in the UK) and my US trade partner sent me a USPS tracking number, no problem. I'm tracking the shipment as we speak - will be considerably less nervous when it passes the "customs clearing" stage it's in now!

It should do. If its on the carbon receipt it'll probably by 13 characters, two letters followed by 9 numbers and ending in the country of origin (US).

I get USPS tracking numbers when my American traders send me boxes (to Canada).

USPS definitely gives tracking numbers on international shipments.

Perhaps your partner didn't ask for one, or declined when offered the "confirmation of delivery" option. I remember when I sent my first box inside the USA. I declined "confirmation of delivery," then right after she said goodbye, I asked where my tracking number was... :flushed:

All USPS International shipments I've sent have included a # on the receipt that can be used for tracking, not sure it is always communicated to the shipper that way by USPS. My last one was CW#########US for a shipment going to Sweden.
