Thoughts from those of you who have enjoyed any of these fine brews, and whether you think they are ready to drink now or could sit a while longer before they peak. Thanks.

CBS - Drink fresh (had '10 and '11 on tap side-by-side, much preferred it fresh)
King Henry - Delicious fresh, drink
Better Half - Good, pretty sweet, not sure what it would gain from aging

And more importantly, if you've never had them, drink them fresh!

Drink now and I enjoy! CBS and KH are the best 2 beers I've ever had!

cbs and king henry are ready now, imo. I had cbs when it first came out in bottes and twice since then, and the coffee is pretty nonexistent now and the beer has got much more sweet. I found better half a lil hot and think a year could do it well.

I've only had CBS and I'd say drink it sooner than later. In the meantime put it in the fridge, it's not going to get any better.

If you have more than one of each, I'd say drink one and age one. I loved CBS, though I'm aging one just for fun and because I like KBS with a year on it as well (another beer that most people will say to only drink fresh). I'm going to age one or two Better Halves as well.

For CBS, it all depends how much you like the coffee presence. I preferred the aged hand-bottle that I got to try over the fresh one from the release, but I am definitely in the minority here.

As for King Henry, I agree that it is just about perfect right now, but I still have two left that I'm going to drink at some point. My plan is to try one every month or so (be it my own, via trade, or at a tasting) for as long as possible. It's so good.

Thanks so much for the replies already! Sounds like I've got some epic drinking to do. Really, really excited since the general concensus is that KH and CBS are usually in the talk of "best beers ever had", which I know is saying a lot coming from BA's on here. Better gather round friends and family for a tasting.

I had a king Henry and thought it was even better with some months on it.

King Henry is truly a work of art. Perhaps the best beer to cross these lips, as well.

    CBS- fresh
KH- ship it to me because I'd love to try it!
BH- I loved it fresh but have 3 aging as well. If you only have 1 I'd def drink it fresh.

KH-I've had it 3 times and if I get another bottle of it I am popping that immediately too!
BH-I popped one when it first came out, a little hot, but I wouldn't sit on it for more than 6-8 months before opening that sucker.

I really prefer bourbon barrel beers fresh - I'm a huge bourbon fan and that quality of the beer only diminishes with age. I guess it kind of depends on your taste, if you love those in your face bourbon flavors you should drink it fresh before it starts to mellow out.

I agree with most on here - drink CBS and KH soon, maybe lay the BH down for another few months to a year.

Anyone open one of these recently? (Better Half) I know how great it was fresh and wondering if I should hold my other bottle much longer.

i had a bottle of better half a week ago. great beer and i could see it holding up well for at least one more year if not a bit longer.

We had a bottle over the weekend. I would personally age it in hopes that it changes into a completely different beer in a couple years. Then again, I'm not sure if I've had a Founders beer that benefits from age.

I think CBH would age well but the maple quality would die. Same with CBS but I'm aging one because I'm not a fan of coffee in my stouts and there was way too much in there for me. Hopefully it will die down with time. And I personally think KH will get too sweet over time, it was amazing fresh so drink it now.
