Hey folks! I'll be in Gainesville for the next few days (UF area) and was just hoping for some suggestions on good bottle shops. I'm mostly looking to score some Bell's stuff, any shops you guys know of that regularly stock them?

My buddy mentioned that Tipple's Brews is a good spot to hit, just wondering if there's any others you guys would recommend?

    Thanks, cheers!

Swamphead is in north Gainesville. As far as around UF, there is a place called stubbies and steins that is supposed to have good eer. I've never been there but my best friend who lives in Gainesville loves it. Also there is a craft beer bar I think called Gainesville Craft Beer house (not 100% sure) but u can see their taps online. And it's a college type bar but have lots of specials and a mild craft offering (guiness, blue moon type selection) called Mothers that is within walking distance of UF. Best part of that bar is no smoking and two dollar pints of black n tans etc. don't forget to grab a slice at satchels pizza as well!

Last note: they have a mellow mushroom that may have decent taps. I know the ones in Jacksonville orange park have good taps but not sure about the one at UF.
Man, can you tell I miss Gainesville and college? Haha.

Just moved from there a few months ago. Tipple's and Gator Beverage are the best, both carrying Bell's but not an over the top selection of the brewery. You can also order a draft while shopping at Tipple's. Big fan of Swamp Head but no bottles, only draft and growlers. Stubbies mentioned above has bottles to go but I've never bought any from there. Another random place where I've found good bottles is Sai Kwik Stop but it's not necessarily worth an extra trip.

Tippel's is a very nice shop and I would definitely hit it up, I don't know what their selection of stuff from Bells is like though. They have very knowledgeable employees and should have some Cigar City stuff if you're into that as well.

I think you might have better luck at Gator Beverage though, it's much closer to UF than Tippel's, it's about three blocks east of campus on University, head towards downtown and and it will be on your left. They won't be as knowledgeable as the folks at Tippel's but they have a lot of stuff crammed into a small space, and if you do some digging you might get lucky and find a nice bottle or two. I was just in there on Tuesday and I'm pretty sure they had several different Bells 6ers on the shelf.

If you still can't find anything and feel the need to stop at an ABC the best one in town IMO is the on Archer near 34th, next to Starbuck/Coldstone/Moe's/Panera. They don't have a huge craft selection but I've found a few hidden gems in there as well (over the summer I found that the Ten Fiddy they had on the shelves from 2009, don't worry, I made sure to remove it all from their shelves).

As for beer bars and restaurants, I can't give any help there currently, I do know there is a Brass Tap opening there soon which will be sweet. I don't live in G'ville, Im just there for work on a fairly regular basis so I don't drink while there, I just stop and look for bottles on most trips.

Unless Micanopy is now considered south Gainesville, I think you meant to say south instead of north

It is off the Archer Road exit.

Fantastic info guys, it's much appreciated.

http://gainesvillehob.com/beer/ seems to have a pretty solid tap list and bottle selection. I'm gonna definitely try and hit them up. Thanks raczkowski

You're a true gentleman. I'm sure it was quite a chore drinking all that vintage stout
