Question for brewers who use oak.

please name the cooperage that charges this much, because you are quite off. taransaud t5 are around 1600, regular taransaud, darnajou, sylvain, francois fereres are all less.

A lot of the smaller distillers are going to this format of smaller barrels because I believe the can reduce the aging time due to more surface to liquid ratio (that is what they say). Also check around to see if you have a local distillery and see what they have available.

lol yeah that's just a touch off. With the strong dollar, french oak is coming down. I was pleased to learn that my favorite FO wine barrel, Marsannay, was around $1200 at the Unified Symposium a few weeks ago.
