Can we include Gose? If so I choose Briny Melon. If not, Kellerweis.

Seriously? I had no clue. Oh well -- prepare for mundane. :grinning:

When Bell's pulled out of Illinois due to distro trouble, many years back, they created a new label to market in ILL and had an Oberon-clone that they had available year-round (Larry called it Fauxberon). I never knew it was the same beer until just before Bell's announced their return to Illinois, so it never became over-exposed to me -- thank goodness!

I've long looked to the Germans for wheat styles but currently my interest is peaked by brands like 312 and Little Sumpin.

If you're in their distribution area, and tbh I don't know if Kentucky is, Yuengling's Summer Wheat is really good for the price. Oberon is another good seasonal, and Kellerweis is fairly easy to find year round. Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier is probably my all time favorite, but slightly hard to get fresh and non-skunked around here unless it comes on tap somewhere.

My top choice would have to be weihenstephaner vitus. The rest of the list would be crowded but not without lil sumpin sumpin, ayinger weizenbock, weihenstephaner hefeweissbier, weihenstephaner dunkelweizen, avery white rascal, Boulevard zon witbier, and heoggarden.
Edit: I would be remiss to forget fortunate islands, and, honestly, shock top.

Half Acre Akari Shogun and Bells Oberon are my go-to summer wheat beers. Love that they are in 16 oz cans too!

Used to love a good Bavarian Weizen/Weisse, but lately the banana thing doesn't work for me. Wish that wasn't the case cuz there are so many good ones.

Modern Times Fortunate Islands gets my vote

I did a semi clone of this since its not available locally. Crazy drinkable. We sorta turned it more into a session pale ale though. Citra and Amarillo shine though. I hear about session IPAs. But the wheat malt does something spectacular to the mouthfeel of these lighter abv beers.

Witbiers are all the rage around my area.. A coriander and orange peel witbier. A cranberry and cherry puree witbier. Wheat beers are quite diverse. Most think FRUITY. But the style does have some hop roots too

"Wheat Ale" is not a style. Check these out:

http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/93/ - American Pale Wheat Ale

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/89/ - Hefeweizen

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/90/ - Kristalweizen

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/91/ - Dunkelweizen

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/92/ - Weizenbock

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/48/ - Witbier

My favorites are Sierra Nevada Kellerweis, Allagash White, Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, Ayinger Bräu Weisse, Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel, Ayinger Ur-Weisse, New Belgium Mothership (they're making it again), Schneider Aventinus, Schneider Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock, Victory Moonglow.

Allagash White is phenomenal and singlehandedly rekindled my interest in wheat beers.

I probably like American wheat ales much more than the average BA drinker. They're perfect for a summer day. So Yes I like SA Summer Ale, Oberon, 312 Goose Island, etc

Wow they're making Mothership wit again?! Loved the spices in that one. Allagash white is a beautiful beer but I do drink a lot of Fortunate Islands.
