I came through the area a couple of years ago, and I managed to find a pretty solid bottle shop in what seemed like downtown-ish Indy. I remember that it didn't seem like the greatest neighborhood, and it was fairly close to both Sun King and where the Pacers play. Anyone have any idea what this store was? I can't remember for the life of me, and I would really like to stop back there when I go through Indy in a couple of weeks.
Yes, I gave you all of the information and the names of the people to talk to. It was last year, so your poor perception of time leads me to believe you've had way too much beer since your last visit. If you want stores and names, BM me. Here are some stores: Kahn's - around Keystone and 52nd Crown Liquors - you were at the one on Ohio St., but they have a bunch of new beer guys since your last visit Crown - Michigan and 106th Payless - 96th street Crown - US31 and 126th
Khans was stocked today. Picked up a Fruet, couple Love Childs, a Fluffy White Rabbit several other brews...
Awesome, thanks man! I remember very little from that trip, mostly because I spent the night in Dayton. I feared for my life, so I was too terrified to sleep. My better half and I will be passing through on the way to Cincy, and I need to load up on some Indiana brews on my way through!
20 questions? Were you able to physically touch the beers before purchase (as opposed to buying through a 'window')?
Yes, I was able to ... is that taboo? I remember the woman working there gave me a discount for being on BA.
No, just thinking of liquor stores in really bad neighborhoods... My guess is Crown on Ohio/Delaware, and you thought it was a bad neighborhood because of the major bus stop across the street.
I'm from the Illinois/Iowa border. All of Indy was like a bad neighborhood to me.(Kidding) (Kind of) (Don't shoot me when I'm in town) (or stab me) (kidding) (kind of)
haha, thats probably the crown downtown, which makes the description of it pretty funny. i gotta take a trip to that illinois/iowa border to see whats doing out there. i suspect i would be the baddest thing to ever hit that area if the crown downtown is rough. and if it isnt the crown downtown, thats where you should go when you swing back through.
Sesame Street is more dangerous than that part of Ohio Street where Crown is located. I thought you were saying that you found Dayton to be fearful, which I can understand depending on where you were.
Thanks again! My wallet didn't, but I sure did. Was able to get a few beers I couldn't get my hands on back home.
To be honest, I've never had any problems in Chicago, DC, Atlanta, or pretty much any big city. Indy is the only place where I've been hassled and thought that something would happen.
I was holding a sandwich board that said "Peyton Manning is the devil's bride." Could that have been it?
