For anyone who is currently in possession of a King Henry...

Does your bottle have the typical "Bourbon County" bottle cap or it is just a plain black cap? I acquired one through trade and I noticed that BCBVS, Bramble, Cherry Rye, Rare and BCBS all have "Bourbon County" caps, not just black generic ones. I know that brewers sometimes run out of custom caps (i.e. Sour In The Rye has generic gold caps instead of the normal "Bruery" ones), but this just caught my eye as a little unusual.

    Cheers.

Your BCBVS had a Bourbon County copy cap? That's strange, mine doesn't. I thought they started doing the copy caps in 2011?

Out of curiousity, why would KH have a Bourbon County cap? It's a completely different beer all together. But to answer your question, The one that I had, had a plain black cap.

Black caps on all four of mine.

I believe the "Bourbon County" caps are used on newer vintages (2012 on). From my experience, Vanilla, Rare, King Henry, pre-2012 BCBS have plain black caps.

King Henry, BCBVS, Rare, and 2010 Coffee have plain black caps.

Bramble, Cherry Rye, 2011 Coffee, and 2012 Coffee have the Bourbon County caps.

BCBS 2011 and everything earlier have plain black caps. 2012 BCBS has the Bourbon County caps.

Thank you all for the info. I just noticed that my rare and BCBVS have black caps as well (they were tucked snug in the back of my cellar). When I noticed the black cap, I was putting KH away next to Bramble, Cherry Rye and some BCBS, that's why it jumped out at me. Cheers!

2008 had "Bourbon County" caps for sure.

Nope. 2011 Coffee was the first beer that had them.

EDIT: Or am I being trolled?

Seriously? If you're uninformed on a subject, just say so.

You can see from the rims that the 3 on the left (2006, 2007, 2008) are branded caps.

A more top-facing view of the 2008 from a BIF:

Yeah, seriously. Those are Goose Island caps, not Bourbon County caps. Yes I was wrong in saying that they are black caps (that only pertains to 2009-2011 BCBS). But those are not Bourbon County caps.

EDIT: If you weren't sure they were Bourbon County caps, you should have just said so.

Ok, we're both wrong. There's still a better way to respond than "LOL TROLLING!" for posting something helpful.

Cannot stress this strongly enough. Unless you're just gonna trade them, then taste is irrelevant

Because responding "Seriously? If you're uninformed on a subject, just say so." when you are wrong is such a good way? :sunglasses:
