I have a buddy who is trying to organize an multiple stop brewery day in San Diego in a few weeks. They ideally would stop at 4-5 breweries (have sober transportation). I think they would like to mix up a few of the bigger names with one or two local spots. Would anyone be willing to help with a few suggestions on this? They will be staying close to downtown.

Thank you for your help, and I apologize if this topic has been overdiscussed on this board.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Lost Abbey and Stone are like 5 mins away from each other. Not exactly downtown, but worth the drive

if you want to hit up several breweries in a tight timeframe, i would suggest going out to the kearny/mira mesa area. on saturday, i was able to hit up societe, helms, rough draft, and alesmith in just a few hours. you'll have plenty of other options in that area as well...

Vista and Miramar probably have the largest amount of breweries in one small area. I prefer Miramar, but that's me.

Such as Ballast Point, Green Flash, InterGalactic, and St. Archer (snicker).

Since it doesn't sound like an Alpine trip is in the works, just make sure to go to Societe. You won't want to leave. On that note, O'Brien's Pub is very close to Societe and usually has a couple hop-forward Alpine beers on-tap. Regardless, have fun and have a great time!

    Bruery->Alpine->Coronado Brewpub->Stone->Pizza Port Solana Beach.

    In that order.

Is Orange County now part of the San Diego brewing area? Cool.

Here's a realistic beer hop. Having been on MANY single day SD brewery hops before I moved to SD, a realistic schedule would be something like: start at Ballast Point Old Grove (since they open at 11am), then to Alesmith (I don't find them too interesting but most people seem to... they also open at 11 so you can swap that with Ballast if needed), then to Societe, then to Pizza Port Ocean Beach.

If not interested in Ballast or Alesmith, start up in North County and go Stone-->Lost Abbey-->Societe-->PPOB.

Throw in a 5th stop at Green Flash before you commit south to Societe, but do so at your own risk, there will be about 10 tour buses of people ordering samples of East Village Pilsner (not that it's a bad beer....). I stopped going to GF on weekends a while back, but that's just me.

Here is a map of SD. There are a few new places I need to add

My suggestion would be Societe -> Helms (it is very close) -> lunch at O'Brien's -> Coronado Tasting room -> Ballast Point tasting room -> Stone Liberty Station -> close the night off at Pizza Port

Only other changes I would suggest would be to start at Alesmith, and take off either Helm's and/or Ballast Point

    Here's my first post!
I did a brew tour in North County and we hit up Hess, Green Flash and Ballast Point. It was a lot of fun and we did it through SD Beer Tours.

I think I should clarify a few things for an out of towner. The Coronado tasting room is the one right off of Morena, not the brewpub on Coronado. Also, I was referring to the Ballast Point tasting room in the Home Brew Mart in Linda Vista, not the large brewing facility with a tasting room further up norht. Lastly, I was talking about the Ocean Beach Pizza Port, as that is my favorite location and it is closest to downtown.

    So as a modified list:

Societe -> lunch at O'Brien's -> Coronado Production and Tasting room -> Ballast Point Linda Vista tasting room -> Stone Liberty Station (with Bocce Ball) -> close the night off at Pizza Port Ocean Beach

last detail change, if Modern Times' tasting room is open (around mid-July) by the time you do your trip I would throw that in and boot off Ballast Point as there are not usually too many unique things there.

Cool...but that's not north county. That's still San Diego.
