I have a couple of 2004 bottles and have noticed a lot of particles floating in the bottles (when you hold them up to the light). Is this normal? Or did the corks maybe deteriorate?

Could be yeast. I wouldn't be worried.

Pretty much every bottle-conditioned beer will have sediment at the bottom, and all real gueuze is bottle-conditioned, so they'll have sediment. That's all you're seeing. It's mostly yeast, as the guy above said. Pour gently and leave the last bit in the bottle, unless you're low on vitamin B, then slug that bitch.
