Question on merged Stone beers

Not sure if this has been discussed before but I didn't see anything after a quick search...

I noticed a couple Stone beers changed and/or merged after I rated them. I'd like to find out why they were changed or merged or whatever but also I thought this thread could possibly serve as an ongoing discussion on merged beers (or not, whatever).

The first change I noticed was that "Stone Ruination IPA - Grapefruit Slam" (with an abv I believe of 7.7%) seems to have been merged with "Stochasticity Project Grapefruit Slam IPA" (with an abv of 8.8%). I had both beers but it only shows up once in my "Beers" list as Stochasticity (I have two separate ratings under that beer) and I'm assuming it only counts now as one rating, not two.

The second one was "Stone IPA (Double Dry Hopped with Motueka)" was changed and merged to "Stone IPA (Double Dry Hopped)." Again, I have two ratings listed under this beer but oddly enough it shows up TWICE in my "Beers" list (as "Stone IPA (Double Dry Hopped) so I'm guessing it still counts as two reviews, not one.

Confused yet?

Anyway, I'm wondering why they were changed and if there is any chance that these or any future merges might be changed back (and why).

UPDATE: Now I see "Stone IPA (Double Dry Hopped)" only once in my Beer Ratings page and my number of beers 'Hads' went down by one more so I'm guessing the two entries mentioned in the post above were officially merged since I originally posted.

Still waiting on a response, btw. Any chance these could or would ever be separated again?
