So stoked I joined first week of 2013.

then again, I am also glad I dont skimp people and try to point the finger at whining.
Maybe he was trying to keep shipping down on a lower tier? ok ok I'm sorry.

I hope he grabs a pair and does what is right, instead of looking in the mirror and telling himself he didn't do anything wrong.

and yes, she is so science hot!

Don't get me wrong, a 5 that knows how to weld and blow shit up is really a 10!

Blame the class of 2012. This shit fell off a cliff last year, and low and behold, 9 out of 10 of these threads always seem to be about a new user who does stupid shit because they don't really understand how trading works. Once upon a time people read tutorials, asked questions, got assistance from vets, etc. before they jumped into trading. Bad trading used to almost always be either malicious, burnout, or overload - now it's just stupid tiddly wink shit like this that could be fixed with a simple $20 box.

Of course there are plenty of good 2012 traders, and I have absolutely no problem with the good ones. It's easy to tell just based on how they handle themselves in the forums. But it's hard to understand the amazement over how many bad ones are out there if you weren't around on the old site.

And yes, I don't expect much more from the 2013 crop, but given how it all started with 2012, twenty-twelving it will continue to be used...

    Attention class of '13:

    • Start off by doing small, locals for locals trades with established people.
    • Keep in mind that there are plenty of awesome, new to you, shelf beers out there.
    • Avoid whale hunting for the foreseeable future. It only leads to pain and butt hurt.
    • Don't treat the trade as a business transaction. Keep an open, "friendly" line of communication.
    • Eventually, you will establish regular trading partners. Regular trading partners are more inclined to help you land that harder to obtain beer that you'd like to try.
    • Pack boxes like you are shipping your great grandmothers fine China across the country.

agreed! locals for locals with vocal people is what I stuck to for my first trades. I think I over thought every situation to the point that if I went a day without communicating i pretty much messaged them just to say hi. I am surprised they didnt tell me to go away and end the trade haha.

I'm a newbie here but not really newbie to beer - I just have been making postings and I've been receiving messages about trading beers, probably because I live in Vermont and our beer is effing awesome. I just got my first package yesterday and the elation and excitement was almost too much to handle!! Don't hate on the newbies either, they may have secret stashes of Heady Topper they are willing to send out beyond the beautiful Vermont borders...

Secret stashes of HT? Come on '13-er, I hope not. EVERYONE knows that HT goes bad if it is not shipped the same day it was picked up from the brewery !

Seriously though, keep that HT flowin'!

    All the Best,
    A 2012-er
