Questionable Healthy Spirits Barrel aging sticker?

    I had a bomber of Moylan's Barleywine tonight that I bought at Healthy Spirits with a sticker
    that says"bourbon barrel aged".

    Anyone else ever buy a bottle, Moylans or otherwise, with this label and think, upon drinking it, "no fucking way"?
    I guess it could have been in a "barrel" but not for long as the barrel was non-existent. As like not at all. I think they just stuck it on a bottle.

    They've barrel aged that beer before, but I don't believe it's ever been bottled. I thought those treatments were keg only.

    I had the 2011 version of this I think, but it was infected. I remember the sticker

    Yeah it's legit, it's alright. Basically healthy spirits give the brewery one of their barrels and the age their beer in it. Some of them are winners tho

    While I didn't get any of the barrel, it was still a pleasant BW.
    I also have the '11 BA Marin Brew Co version, so hopefully that one has some barrel in it.
    Either way, they're local and weren't over-priced, so I'll survive.

    They claim in that blog link that there's a "hint of brettanomyces funk." Healthy Spirits and Ale Industries released a BA Coffee Stout called Someone Talked! that was also badly infected. They did a BA Barleywine with High Water a couple years back that never carbed. Avoided any of their bottle released ever since.

    They used that same sticker for the BBA Ryan Sullivan's Imp Stout last year. It was definitely barrel aged, however it was not a Healthy Spirits exclusive. Not sure if it was related to them at all.
