    Dear Vermonters,

I'm taking a quick jaunt up through your state next week and I was wondering if you could provide me with some info. I'm driving up from Boston on Thursday. I will be stopping at Hill Fatmstead and ending the day in Montpellier, drinking proematically at the Three Penny Taproom. I need to know what to do between those two stops.

    1. Is it worth it to stop at The Alchemist? That is, will we be able to find cases of Heady in stores?

    2. We'll be looking for as much Lawson's as we can get our hands on. Is it worth out time to drive to Warren? Or will the stores in Montpellier have the Sam basic selection as the Warren store?

    3. Any general tips or recommendations?

The alchemist has been selling out on Thursdays as of late. Best to get there early in the day. If you are talking about the Labor Day weekend should be stupidly crazy.

I think Warren Store has a higher limit on Lawson's than Hunger Mountain

The Hunger Mountain Coop gets their Lawson's deliveries Friday morning. I believe the limit is 2 bottles per type per person. Even without Lawson's they have an awesome bottle selection. They won't have any Heady Topper or Lawson's on Thursday.

If you want to go to the Alchemist, early Thursday would be the time to do it as the previous poster said. If they sell out, the Prohibition Pig is worth the trip to Waterbury alone.

Would the Warren Store have Lawson's on Thursday?

It's looking like we'll drive from Boston to Hill Farmstead, then Warren, then crash in Montpellier, then try to get to Alchemist early on Friday.

How's that work? Like, do people start lining up outside the brewery before they even open?

Here are stats from the past month. From the trend it doesn't look promising for you to get heady on friday, as they've been running out earlier and earlier.

Friday 8/1: Ran out of casses at 11:21 am
Thursday 8/8: Ran out of cases at 3:12 pm
Thursday 8/15: Ran out of cases at 2:29 pm
Thursday 8/22: Ran out of cases at 10:53 am

I can get to the Alche
Daaaaaamn. There's no way I can get there early on Thursday. I can try to get there by 9:00 or so Friday morning and wait in line, though.

How did they run out at 10:53 on 8/22? Their site says they don't even open until 11...

They didn't, they posted that they had 200 cases at opening. The ran out around 1:45. I only know this because I was on 89 about ten minutes away when it happened lol

What time will you be getting into Vt on Thurs? I ask because if you go to HF first you are going to miss out on Lawson's. Personally I would go The Warren Store->Alchemist->HF and do it all on Thursday. As long as you can get to warren by 1pm you should be able to hit all 3 no problem. Of course if Heady sells out early on Thursday there isn't much you can do about that, but its on the way from warren to Greensboro so it's worth stopping by to see.

So what I'm sensing is that if I'm in line before the brewery opens, I should have a good shot at getting a case? Do they let people line up in the morning?

I'm leaving from Boston around 9 AM and would rather not be racing from place to place. Assuming we don't run into any bad traffic, we should probably make it to Warren by 1.

    Why is 1 the cutoff?

It's not really the cutoff, but just ensures you'll get your Lawson's. if you're leaving Boston at 9 that puts you at the warren store at noon. You'll be in and out there in 10min or less, that gets you to the alchemist at 12:45ish. If heady is available you'll be in and out in of there quick as well, lets say 15 minutes. So now it's 1pm and you can take all the time you want to get to HF, which should take about an hour and 15 minutes. Once you're done a HF you can head to Montpelier and hit Three Penny.

Just thinking about this makes me want to do this on Thursday!

I think being labor day weekend, that might make things tougher. I went to the warren store last Thursday, got their about 215 and Lawson's was long gone. Because its double sunshine month they have been selling out really quickly. If you leave boston at 9 And go straight to warren you risk getting shut out at both. If you go straight to the alchemist, you SHOULD be good to go there, but you won't be able to get any Lawson's.

Of course if you want to spend more time at the warren store of the alchemist you're welcome to. There isn't much to see at the warren store but it would be a good place to grab lunch, or you could check out one of the many fine establishments in Waterbury for lunch after visiting the alchemist. But I guess my main point is that HF should be your last stop as you are guaranteed to get great beer as long as you arrive before 5pm (when they close).

If I get shut out at either Warren or Alchemist I can try again early Friday morning, since I'm sleeping in Montpellier. Unless Warren won't have any Lawson's on Friday?

Also, thanks everyone for your feedbacks.

You more than likely wont be able to find HT anywhere on Friday. You should be able to get Lawson's at hunger mountain though.

Not even at the Alchemist? Even if I get there before they open?

Ahh... good to know. I was thinking it was day-by-day availability.

We'll tear-ass out of Boston at 9 AM Thursday, it looks like, then up to Warren, then to Alchemist, then to HF. No pee breaks, no food, no gas.
