Hey guys, gonna be in DC this coming weekend, and was going to stop by DC Brau. Quick search told me that they most recently canned OTWOA on 2/23, and that they generally can once per month--how long does it usually last/will I still be able to get some this weekend? If not, are they still only brewery only distro or can I get OTWOA elsewhere? I tried checking their website but it was difficult for me to navigate for some reason and I couldn't figure out if they had a "what's on tap/What's for sale" at the brewery section. Also--any other must try beers from them? Unfortunately I heard they aren't doing samples anymore. Any help here would be awesome! Thanks!
They usually post what will be available on Facebook, I'd check there over the next couple days or contact them here http://www.dcbrau.com/contact_us.cfm. You should be able to get some OTWOA, it typically lasts 2-3 weeks as of late. Cans are pretty much brewery only, there have been instances of cans being distributed but it's very rare (don't waste your time). Draft, however, they do distribute. I wouldn't say there are any other must try beers currently available but I enjoy most of their beers, although nothing special they are worth trying.
+1 everything above. They are pretty good about posting what they have on FB. Most likely they should have some OTWOA for sale at the brewery this weekend but you may always want to check out their FB or contact them ahead of time just to make sure. Nothing else special at the brewery to try right now but their other offerings are fine. You should be able to find some draft OTWOA around the city as well if you dont feel like trekking out to the brewery.
Awesome--thanks guys will check out their facebook. Was hoping to leave with a couple 6ers but if not I'll definitely find some on tap. General question--how is right proper? Have heard a lot about OTWOA (and through that dc brau), but very little about right proper (I assume because they dont can/bottle?). Honestly the beers that right proper has on sound significantly more interesting to me than DC Brau...(admittedly I'm a big farmhouse/saison fan though). Is right proper a must check out spot? I've been to churchkey/birch and barley before so looking for some other spots to go to.
They didn't stop doing samples, they stopped doing free samples because people were abusing it. They still have cans of OTWOA because I picked up a case today.
For what it's worth, I also saw cans of Stone of Arbroath at Schneider's on Capitol Hill. Not a Scotch ale fan though, so can't speak for its quality.
