I'm guessing that by "the brewery to go to in Wisc" that you mean in case there is a fire to gather their beer to put it out, right?

Cracking open my first New Glarus that I got in a trade soon. What should I expect out of the Cran-bic?

Love the brewery. It's the best looking brewery that I have visited. The only brewery I was more impressed with was Budweiser in St Louis (the scale... the efficiency... it's staggering).

My favorite part of the NG brewery is the in-line 5 gallon system for test batches. It uses the same water sources as their other beers for mash and sparge, pumps to go from vessel to vessel, drain in the floor, all together and tidy - it's a homebrewer's dream come true.

As for the beers, there are only a few I've been let down by and only a few that have knocked my socks off, but by and large they are solid beers that I would drink any day of the week.

Cran-bic is one of the beers that knocked my socks off. I would drink that every day if I could.

I got to enjoy this one at a buddies house and loved it. You can expect deliciousness in your glass

I've been to both -- Not that I'd turn away from either, but the view from New Glarus is much nicer.

The view from is true. I think the experience in the brewery and taproom in Chico edges out NG.

I wholeheartedly agree. Though I love both breweries, those rolling hills and the quiet town are so dreamy.

I think it's picking nits between these 2 places, both are good -- have great beers and terrific atmosphere. But if forced to choose I'd go with NG. Not only is the view beautiful, the beer great, and the people friendly, but there are more breweries in the area and the food at the Glarner Stube down the hill in town is just what a hungry Beer Hunter craves!

I do agree on the Glarner Stube!

Great Place to visit sometime when you get the chance. I drove out at the end of September for a tour and to pick up some much needed beer from there to bring back to PA. Easily once of the nicest breweries I've ever seen.

Thanks for sharing as a Minnesotan naturally I am covetous of NG because we have to drive to get it.

    Nice job Terry!
Fun read. I "discovered" New Glarus last Summer while visiting Minnesota & picking up a few in an IP trade.
Had one of the Enigma series yesterday - Cherries, very sour, very delicious! And I have a Raspberry Tart in the cellar waiting for the right occasion. Will definitely be on the lookout for more of this deliciousness.

New Glarus is the brewery I am most interested in getting my hands on, and the only beers I'd be willing to trade for. Anyone interested in any Colorado brews?
