Background: I'm running a Fantasy Football league where each participant has to ante 1 "limited" beer (brewery-only release, once per year release, etc.). One guy has ante'd 2x Cherry Adams Would you consider this beer to be "limited?" Thanks and cheers!
It's limited in the sense that it was a brewery only release. Never mind that it's not carbonated, and it sat around at the brewery for a while.
If limited was defined as "brewery only", then it definitely is considered limit. If you put other qualifiers regarding bottle limits or how long it was available, then the response may be different. I personally wouldn't consider the 2014 CAftW release limited. But then again, I drive by HotD several times a week, eat lunch there frequently, and usually don't have a problem making silent releases. But for the rest of the country, yes, limited.
I suspect it's as limited as any other HOTD from-the-wood release (i.e. roughly 100-150 cases). Lack of carb definitely kept it around longer, but the silent release thing also has a huge impact on the number of out-of-towners who show up to buy their beer. Last year's BFftW and FftW lasted at least a month as well.
1200 - 2000 12 oz bottles seems limited by all criteria. I think we lose perspective when things are only in state. That would be around 400 - 500 750s, right? So WAY less than many other beers considered limited by all. We probably wouldn't consider something like Upright Flora "limited" since it's there on the shelves ... but it's under 100 cases. If they distributed this stuff more widely it'd be hard to come by. Thankfully, both Upright and HotD seem to be trying to make sure they're pretty available in local markets.
