Howdy, and thanks for the help! I would like to know how "The Brewing Lair" is commonly referred to locally. Is it the full "The Brewing Lair" (kind of like The Bruery), is the "the" dropped (kind of like "Duck-Rabbit"), or is it referred to by an initialism like "TBL"? Thanks for the help; Cheers! Matthew
Wonder why you didn't just call this thread "The Brewing Lair". I had to Google this place because I had never heard of it before. It's waaaay out there. Looks like from Yelp - "The Lair" or "The Brewing Lair" are common - http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-brewing-lair-blairsden
Thanks for the input! Anyone been to this joint, or had the beer? I'm asking because I'm the product manager for a bar that's opening in Vacaville and i'm including these guys on the menu. I just want to know the correct colloquialism for them, so it doesn't read goofy.
yeah, this is serious BFE. i'm guessing hardly anyone will know what this is except BAs from Blairsden (population 39)
i dont think it matters what the colloquialism is because you should be using their proper name if you want to be a good beer bar cant read goofy if thats what their actual name is...
Fair point, and usually that works. However there are always exceptions as some breweries generally refer to themselves by the common name. Christian Moerlein for instance uses just "Moerlein", so that's how our menus read. Just wanted to know what the local enthusiasts thought. I didn't realize these cats were so far out in the boonies. And thanks @TTC, i'll see if i can get someone on the horn. Cheers!
Whats the name of your place? My parents live in Vacaville and will be visiting them at the end of the month.
It's called The Brass Tap. Craft beer with food (better than bar food, not quite bistro). 60 taps, 35-45 locals. ~100 bottles, mostly national. The training week is the 12th, should be open for business on the 19th. We will have a training event on the 17th. If any of y'all are local and want to attend, shoot me a message and i'll do my best to hook you up with an invite good for a couple free drafts. The owners are cool folks; ex-military beer lovers that live in Vacaville. Apparently the area is in need of some cool venues. Cheers!
Man I have been glued to that Facebook page, waiting for The Brass Tap to open @MatthewPlus . Right down the road from me, finally we can have a place to drink craft beers without going out of town.
Looking forward to Brass Tap opening. I am sure I will visit often, only a couple of miles down the road.
