Was this around the time you sent her flowers for Valentine's day?

I might be nitpicking but is it fair to compare Bully Pulpit with Citraholic? They're two completely different beers. When I had Bully in July, I thought it tasted more like Nelson than Citraholic. So, to me, it's kind of apples and oranges.

On the subject of their Beatitude beers...I can actually taste the fruit in all of them which has been something that's been very rare for me as Rare Barrel and Almanac beers lately have been lacking in that.

I had a 3-4 month old Beat bottle (the Cherry) last night. The fruit does fall off over time, but I still noticed a tad bit.

When I cracked all 9 of their first bottling run with friends a while back the first set (blueberry, cherry, and pineapple I believe) had definitely fallen off. Granted I believe they are meant to be drank immediately but I had to collect the whole set first. It was a fun night.

Even if it were 9 small tasters, I'd need one of those mega bottles of Tums to survive that much Beats.

I think he meant PB and BBAPB tasted the same, in that he didn't really pick up much BB in the BBAPB. I don't agree with that statement though, as I thought it was super boozy when it was fresh. I drank my last one a couple months back though and really enjoyed it.

I do really like Bully, but I will agree that there's variance to it. I've never gotten any off flavors from it though. I also thought Grapefruit Bully was damn good too, but they rarely have that.

As for Liz, I've only spoken to here a few times randomly, but she never came off, to me, like some are describing in this thread. Liz does talk monotone though, and I think that rubs some people as coming off "bitchy". I don't see it.

It's got to be needing monies from the expansion. They're also having like three other bottle releases coming up in the next month. They're going a little overboard.

This is a good point. I was going to say something about "style of talking", but wasn't sure how to express it. If you didn't know any better, it sounds like you are being lectured to.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. I never had it from the bottle, so maybe it tasted different? On tap I got no barrel character, not to say it was a bad beer though.

Hopefully all the haters skip the Imperial Beatitude release.

Yeah, and monkeys will fly out of my butt. They'll just buy it to trade.

(though in all fairness, the only complaints I've generally heard about the Beats are their price)

Weird because $12 for a 750ml tart beer (Blueberry and the Mango) is a steal to me.

Why is it going overboard for them to have more releases?

I just think you don't want to saturate the market. I go into stores that got Beatitudes and see four cases of Blueberry and Mango sitting on the ground. I go to Council and see they have 5 or so different varieties of Beatitude available. Now, they're doing three bottle releases in September. Given how the beer world is though, since they're BPT releases, they'll probably sell out in seconds.

That's a good point for a small brewery, but from what I understand with their added capacity that's what they want. Being able to distribute throughout SD will raise brand awareness helping them grow even further.

When I worked for a small brewery that didn't bottle (at the time) all you would hear from customers is how they wish they could buy some bottles from themselves, friends, relatives out of town, etc. It is always difficult balancing how you want to most effectively put your beer out there, when you're on a small system, to most effectively create income and brand awareness. It's also hard when people tell you they want to give you money, but you don't have the product they are looking for.

All that being said, I've also seen Beatitude around a lot lately and haven't had much interested in committing to a bottle.

It's definitely a balancing act, and one I don't envy. You want to have bottles available for whenever people who want bottles can get them, but you don't want to have so much that you saturate the market and your bottles sit on shelves for months.

Personally, I think the better option would be to growler fill the Beatitudes, while also having bottle releases for their special beers.

Went this past weekend. Beatitudes were solid, the four IPAs we tried were terrible. I don't understand what's going on there.
