What is the beer that has the monster type warrior on the front with spears in his arm, holding a shield and with the word "hops" tattooed on his fingers? I thought it was Alpha King but every image I pull up on the web shows the standard one with the crowned dude bathing himself in beer. Just trying to settle a bet really quick. Are there 2 different labels for Alpha King or am I confusing beers? That is my guess....

    Thanks!

    Man o Awe?

Only "HOPS" knuckle tattoo on a label that I can think of is Against the Grain's Rico Sauvin, in case that's helpful.

This is what came to mind for me but can't see hops on the hand.[IMG]

I have never seen a different version of Alpha King.
What you describe makes me think of Man o Awe too, but I don't think it is right - the guy on that doesn't have a shield.

It might be a 1 off collab or something, but it isn't ringing any bells for their regular beers

Thanks a lot guys. I bought the 6pk yesterday but have a bet here at work but could not prove it as my beer is chilling in the garage fridge. It is the bottle on the right.

    Thanks again!

They're supposedly updating most of their 6er's artwork with the exception of Zombie Dust. We already saw a gumballhead update, and now alpha king. Wondering what they'll do next. We already have a 2nd Arctic Panzer Wolf and Blackheart label but who knows if they'll update bomber artwork as well.

Well the good news is your beer is very fresh, because Apha King was on the shelf at my store today with a bottle date of 12/29/14 and it had the old labels!

Must have switched over for the new year

Yes sir - 1/5 bottle date if I recall. They got the shipment in yesterday and I swung in to grab it yesterday. Along with some Zombie Dust and Yum Yum of course. Kinda pissed that every place usually charges $20 for the Zombie Dust and that's ONLY if you spend $20 on other stuff first. BS! I only agreed because I was already buying the other FFF stuff. Today I see that cases are only $40 at the brewery??? I will never pay $20 again. Especially if I have to spend $20 first. I know it's all supply and demand but c'mon! I will drive up an hour to get a case at once when I really want it. Just hope they have it when I go. Still learning the ropes here on some things.

Yep, getting at the brewery is half the price sometimes. I pay about $15 for 6 packs near me though, so I don't bother going to the brewery, but it is the cheapest way. Problem is, sometimes you just don't know what they will have for sale...

I think I paid $8.99 for a zombie dust 6er last year(given WI has cheaper beer); and still feel like I could have gotten a better APA for the price (Moon man, sierra nevada, Deschutes).

Yeah, WI is a great deal. I consistently see things 20% cheaper up there (I drive up 3 or 4 times a year to do stuff). I think all the liquor stores close to the border up their prices though, because if you pop across from IL all the stores are always about the same as Chicago!

The tax always kills me, but I still go to Chicago anyway to get some non-WI distributed stuff.

I have a secret beer honey hole in Wisconsin. Not too far away, good beer selection, good prices and undisclosed bonus perks. Hint...it isn't the Mars Cheese Castle.

Go on... :grinning: I usually just hit the big stores across the border, but that is a good idea - I should look for a place that is a bit more interesting and has different stuff

Yeah, I do the same - there is stuff in WI that I just love, so I make the round trip every 3 months or so to stock up. I try and time it around seasonal Central Waters or Lake Louie things that I really like

Next time you plan to go to WI, you can PM me and I will share my honey hole with you. You won't be disappointed.
