OK guys, so I have a weird work trip coming up. I'm flying from Colorado to Minneapolis this Tuesday morning, and I'm flying out back to NY early in the evening, and I probably have 2-3 hours to beer it up. I actually need to be in Stillwater, so I'll definitely check out Lift Bridge. Anyway, my primary goal is to find bottles to bring back; what should my target stores/breweries be? I definitely want to cross into Wisconsin to Casanova for their distro, but otherwise I'll be in the Twin Cities area. Any advice would be appreciated. I would also like to acquire a BA Double Shot Double Black and a BA Silhouette if possible via IP trade. I will have just come from Colorado with their distro and stuff I might have already. TIA!
If you only have 2-3 hours the best bang for your buck will be Casanova. Depending on the time of day it might take you a couple hours to get from Stillwater to Casanova to Minneapolis or St Paul. If you have time to stop on the way to the airport, I recommend Barrel Theory (DT St Paul) and Wild Mind (near the intersection of 35W and highway 62). Check traffic and construction - there are quite a few projects going on right now.
I also agree with Casanova. That store is amazing. They also stock cans from the local Wisconsin breweries there - Oliphant, Hop & Barrel, Swinging Bridge, Pitchfork, Brewing Projekt and others. Since you're so limited on time, I'd say just stop at Wild Mind, if you're able to - it's so close to the airport.
Amazing; I will definitely prioritize Casanova. Update to the timeline; the meeting I need to attend has been rescheduled, so it won't be next Tuesday. It will most likely take place some time the following week. I may have a tad more time since I'll be coming straight from NY this time (I get some help from the time zone), so we can revisit. Thanks everyone for the help.
Both of these are still sitting on shelves in a few stores. I saw both at Lowry Hill Liquors in Uptown a couple weeks ago.
While Casanova is a great shop, I’m not sure you need to waste part of your trip going there. Only reason myself and many go there anymore is because we are traveling through that way. You’ll find just as many of awesome beers here, many are the same as what’s there
To a first time visitor to Casanova, the square footage of beer shelves and cooler space may be underwhelming, especially compared to a few of the bigger stores in the Twin Cities, but there are still several brewers that are found at Casanova that are not found in Minnesota: New Glarus Oddside Ales 3 Sheeps Revolution Half Acre 18th Street O'So Weyerbacher and the occasional availability of 3 Floyds. Feel free to add others.
Simply stated if the dude hasn’t experienced what MN has to offer, save novas die another time. He can only bring back so many bottles
Thanks for everyone's help. Waiting for my flight home right now. Hope all my stuff makes it home safely. I did end up with a bottle each of double shot and silhouette, so thanks for that info. Beautiful area!
