I'm new to Rhode Island and I need some suggestions for a good place to have a few good craft beers. Any recommendations for RI craft beer would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

The BA Beer Guide lays it all out there but, for specifics, what area are located/interested in ?

I'm in Lincoln, I was looking for a good place or two with a few craft beers on tap. I saw few places that seemed like they would just have the typical macro stuff. I haven't had much of RI beers and I was hoping to get a jumping off point.

You'll want to head to Stevie D's in Cumberland a/o Doherty's East Ave in Pawtucket. For shops, you are close to the two best - Nikki's and B&C. For local stuff, try to hit the Brew Fest in Pawtucket on 2/1 - http://www.ribrewfest.com/winter

I can definitely leave out Trinity...I think it's mediocre at best to put it kindly.
Now is Track 84 stellar enough to drive all the way down to from Lincoln...perhaps ?

It is. Track is pretty awesome. Very chill atmosphere. Free popcorn.

May I also suggest the What Cheer Tavern in PVD? Then go eat food a few doors down at the Barstow.

Trinity used to be my go to place. In fact I was a mug club guy. Then I slowly started going less.

Didn't renew my mug this year, not too sad about it. Haven't been since like early December, and I live fairly close.

With that said, their IPA is damn good, and they make a very strong Russian Imperial Stout. In the summer, they make like a 13% Belgian strawberry beer that fucks you up fairly quick, the bartenders even call it the date **** beer.

The Track may be the best we have in RI but the lack of food and the fact that 50% of their current tap list is > 8%ABV (with nothing even close to being sessionable) really limits this old man's visits...and I'm only 10 minutes away.

You can't beat the economics of the RIS if you want to pound a few before a P-Bruins game.

Track is also one of the few places with a legit cask every so often. I had my favorite tasting cask beer ever there (Three Heads Brewery - The Kind IPA).

I used to go to wing night on Monday, eat like 25 wings, drink two gigantic mugs of beer, and spend around $15. It was awesome. Wings got increased to 20 cents each for the mug clubbers this year though.

It's definitely THE place to go to harpoon some whales...

If you're in Lincoln, check out Stevie D's in Cumberland. They have BCBBW, BCBS, Enjoy By, Backwoods and others on tap now. Much closer for you.

From another Lincoln-ite(is that a word for us?) Stevie-d's is your best bet. Then a bit further away is doherty's then youre getting into providence and you can try trinity or union station but they're not that great. English cellar has a lot of beers but never really impressed me. Rogue Island in the arcade has a ton of the local beers, not much crazy rare but if youre looking for local thats the place to try, food is awesome there too. Julians always has a good amount of really good beers too.

Then you go more south you have Track, and the doherty's ale house in warwick.

Then you go more south and if you go east you can hit wakefield and go to mews who have been stepping their game up, go to newport for malt, pour judgement or norey's. If you go west you can go to westerly and go to malted barley.

Also, there are all the different breweries that you can visit, my favorite to see is Grey Sail. The guys at foolproof put on a good tour too though as does the bucket.

Only in RI would that drive be "all the way down"

    That's a 20-minute drive...might as well get a room at Comfort Inn.
