I haven't seen one of my standby's in Ohio for quite a few months...no Hop Rod Rye either...what gives?
For some reason the distributor hasn't gotten anything from Bear Republic in a few months. I used to carry that one all the time, and haven't gotten a more in depth explaination.
Due to their current water shortage situation, Bear Republic has pulled out of almost every market outside the west coast. They are in the process of building a new brewery that will tap into the city of Cloverdale water supply and will allow them to increase their current production. When and if they return to the suspended markets has yet to be determined.
Yep, I miss this one as well. I always thought it was rather difficult to find fresh though. A local place always had it on tap though.
I mentioned this last June and no one believed me. They have been out of Ohio for close to a year now and all the product that is left on the shelves is incredibly old. Racer 5 is one of those classic beers that will certainly be missed.
I love Racer 5, very sad that they had to pull back distribution. I even use the grain bill from the BYO Racer 5 clone when I brew IPAs, I love the color and hefty shot of wheat. Ya there are still some bottles of Hop Rod Rye at a few bottles shops in my area but they are like 2 years old now.
