Hi Guys, Dunno if everybody is as happy about this as I am, but I'm excited to have my new Sunday funday hangout back... love that I can actually bike to it without worry of ending up on the highway too haha. I know I'm a little out of touch (spending the year in Oregon). Has anybody been to the new Rackhouse yet? http://www.westword.com/restaurants...se-pub-is-now-pouring-on-blake-street-7422593 Cheers, Ben
I moved here after the OG Rackhouse closed so I can't compare it to the old place, but the food at the Blake location is awesome. Tasty burgers and you'd be a fool not to get the mac & cheese. The menu is a bit pricey though. Taplist is small but solid with a focus on a local craft. I think I remember them having Superpower, LaFolie, Sand Lot Pilsner, Dry Dock and some other nice, "day drinking" type beers. The restaurant itself is on the second floor of the building and has a pretty bitchin' view of the mountains. Definitely worth the stop IMO, although once they start pouring Bierstadt beers, I'll probably be there way too much.
Made it a couple weeks ago. Until Bierstadt opens they have guest taps from a few other local places like Hogshead. While a tiny bit different (only a little), they still have killer mac & cheese. The old Rackhouse was the first place I got to try a ton of killer CO beers. I'm definitely glad to have 'em back.
The day I went, they had normal mac & cheese, sea mac, and a "rotator" mac that ended up being served with a steak. The waitress said they were still tinkering with things, so you might see it come back. Tell 'em you miss it! At the old location they ended up taking a few of our favorite items off the menu, but they'd still make them if you asked.
Are all of the guest taps going away once Bierstadt starts pouring? That would be a bummer since the taps seemed to pair well with their food menu.
I dunno for sure, but some early interviews implied that they were sticking to the house beers/ciders for draft and only having guests in bottles. That has been maybe 6 months ago, though.
Looking forward to hitting it up soon. I want to use it as part of a "Triangle Of Tipsyness" with Epic and Finn's Manor... but that's gonna have to wait for warmer temps.
We went a the weekend before XMas. They didn't have their liquor license yet and had a few beers on and some ciders. Their mac and cheese was still real good. No chilis were on the menu though and they weren't serving the goldfish as a free appetizer anymore either. It was a much smaller food and beer menu. But then they had been open for a week, so I'm guessing they're working through the kinks
While I love the new place, I don't think the Rackhouse is trying to be the same place it once was. I think the main commonality = good beer/good food with Chris Rippe as the owner and shot caller. That said, I have a feeling that if people really want some of the old mainstays (like goldfish and m&c variants), they'll probably listen.
I was severely disappointed with the new location. The Mac & Cheese was good, but not the same IMO. The Goldfish being gone was sad, and the burger options were not even in the same ball park. As stated above the waitress said they were still figuring things out with a new chef. I'll wait and see what the new chef comes up with when Bierstadt opens.
I'd be really disappointed if they only offer bierstadt beers on draft. One of the greatest things about the old one was draft selection.. Is beirstadt not going to have a taproom at all? Seems like that would be the reverse of Bill's spat at Prost?.. Amoung cough.. Other things.. Cough.. Sorry shouldn't gossip.
C-Squared has a tasting room/to-go order spot downstairs. Not sure if Bierstadt is planning the same approach, but it looks like they have room.
Been there twice, and while the menu is definitely smaller, I think the food is still great. The Dip is pretty bomb diggity. Anyone know what's up with the stage/seating area down on the first floor? There's a drum set and everything; would be really cool if they turn that into a kind of small concert venue. Or maybe it's just decoration...?
They used to have bands at the old Rackhouse, so it would only make sense to party down at the new one, too.
