Saw this today on their facebook page. All CO breweries with a lot still TBD but they will have Blighs and a Dry Creek Stranahan aged quad. At $35 a ticket I may go and try to get my fill of those.
Went last year - was a good time, pretty low key, not crowded and decent selection (albeit some were definitely NOT "rare" - e.g. Crazy Mtn was pouring their standard fare). Best part was ability to go back for more with essentially no lines - probably had half a bottle of the BA Yeti.... oooh oooh good. Note - last year there was no food, you could order from the menu but wasn't included in the ticket cost.
I went last year and liked it. My guess is, just like everything else, it'll be much more crowded this year...
Last year it was essentially open, got a wrist band and could walk around wherever and leisurely sample. Brewery's were set up in the room off to the left as you walk in and also along the back wall (the one between the Stranahans tasting room and the Rackhouse restaurant).
yep, looking like it (20% of the tickets left). Makes me wonder what time I'll have to track down Dr. Bill on Saturday... http://www.rackhousepub.com/2012-colorado-rare-beer-tasting/
Looks like they sold out then added 50 more tickets. I'm getting a touch worried about this now, I hope they don't oversell it. It always scares me when events add people but not beer. I'll trust the Rackhouse on this and I'm sure it is going to be fun, but I just really hope it's more of a chill event than a super crazy one.
It was very chill last year and that's part of the reason I enjoyed it so much. I'm with you in hoping that it hasn't been oversold!
Still seeing the TBD from Wynkoop - hoping for some of their special stout. Agreed - last year was great, hope its not standing room only with all the really special stuff gone in a flash. IIRC, OB brought a couple growlers of some of their BA stuff - if there's a 100+ folks that won't last long.
Yeah it was great. In addition to the growlers from OB, Avery brought some VERY tasty beers in a Mason Jar. Don't even remember what they were.
ahhh, yeah - i remember those now that you mention it. There were some fairly interesting ones... I know they had uberschweine (sic) and I think Lilikoli (spelling also incorrect) as well as a few other unique ones.
Went back and checked my <incomplete> notes and found a couple more of the Avery offerings from that night- Sacrilicious - listed as a Belgian Quad, IIRC this was bourbon BA (description says blended with Salvation and Recolte Sauvage blend, then Bourbon BA)Bad Karma - tasty sour, IIRC this was either Karma base or a sour blended with KarmaMissionary - Belgian quad with guava
