I was joking.. sorry, shoulda added the "sarcasm" tag. What I meant was: I cant believe the past 2 vintages of this beer were BBA. They sure as hell didn't taste like they were....

Just picked a sixxer of the regular winter warmer, forgot the price but the total bill for 4 sixxers of wintery beers, 2 bottles of choklat were around 60 bucks.

drinking a regular WW and its pretty damn tasty. not sure if i ever had the WW before, know i havent had the BBA ones.

I used to really like this beer and for $9 it was a steal but for this price I'll pass for something else. When it cost as much as say parabola but isnt in the same league I'll pass.

Regardless of pretentious statements like this, you also can't deny a huge local following from having been around so long.

Maybe CM is trying to re-coup the losses from 3-4 years ago when people were buying the cases for $8.99 because the case and bottle had the same UPC code.

    Ha...wow.

I found that one time with a mix Belgian 18 pack when I first got into "good" beer at a Krogers (it had Stella, Hoegaarden, and some other 6 pack). It rang up as Stella for 7.99 instead of triple that.

I went back and got 4 more at a different register. They didnt even notice. I dont feel bad.

It's a great beer, but fuck a bunch of that. You can't even trade it for walez. Next.

Is there a problem with Rahr?
I've only had a few of their beers.

Dude, they're not even jayvee; they're, like, Freshman Team.

Seriously, though, I think their seasonals and To Thee series are solid. I get a sixer or two of Gravel Road every year. BBWW is really good, but I'm with most others on the price point this year. I like Angry Goat as well, but with Vitus fairly ubiquitous and cheaper, it's hard to opt for Rahr over the real deal when I get a Weizenbock hankering.

Yes. I knew some guys that all ponied up $9 each for a bottle and one guy went to buy the case at CM. The cashier scanned the carton UPC and the price came up as $8.99. He went to the car with his purchase and turned around and went right back in and bought two more cases. There was a thread on it here at BA. It was probably 2009.

Rahr doesn't get a lot of love on BA because they don't produce "kick-ass" "amazing" "extreme" beers that the crew on here is looking for. They really do a good job at having a prescence in Ft. Worth though and therefore has a pretty devoted following locally. They are a great example of gateway craft beer. And you can't argue with the family history involving beer.
